How often do you see front irons crack?
I too just busted the rear S5 iron.
I felt a hit(misfire) in 3rd gear down shift on the first pull of the day-everything looked good vac wise and tried it again and got a few more hits....then the smoke came. I run lots of fuel mid to high 10's...it was not detonation or tuning.
Few weeks ago I had oil from the breather over the plugs and wires and I felt exactly the same hits. If I cleaned the wires and moved them a bit it went away.
It could have been the down shift or years of pounding on the dowl landing cracked the iron ,spilled oil and then caused missfire or the missfire caused the crack.
Who Knows, I got 1000's 500hp of pulls on it b4 it went.
I think the unsprung clutch/engine brace is to blame IMO as that is more force/shock than 3-400 foot lbs from the engine?//?
