how to get 500+rwhp out of a fd

im assuming big single. im looking at that kit thats a 500hp from the rx7 store. of course adding a knock sensor....

what kind of times could one expect to run with 500 horsies in a 3rd gen? i look at the cars supras can smoke with that kind of power, and rex's are way lighter.

thoughts? anyone else know a better set up than the one mentioned to get to that 10 second holy grail?

thanks

no idea about times and setups but soul assasin has an FC with 550rwhp and he gets 11.1 and wants to get 10.6 next month according to a thread in the 2nd gen forum. He has a FANTASTIC FC. It's very nice

For 500HP on an FD you will need a similar setup to Ari, Steve kan and others.

Ported Motor
Single Turbo w/ 20+ psi w/ race gas
Programmable computer for tuning
Large intercooler
Full exhaust
Fuel System
An expert tuner and lots of dyno time.

You're talking at least 12,000 bucks right there w/o paying for the car. Of couse you could put a 20B in an FC and have 500 easier.

Just my opinion?

500 RWhp is good for 10.30's in the quarter......on slicks of course!!!!! You couldnt hardly get a decent time at the track with a car like that unless it was on slicks and it would definatly be hard to street race!!!! The tires just wont stick.

If you want to know what it takes go visit the single turbo section, thats where all the big hp guys hang out. You can learn what it takes there and it will be more than just off the shelf parts thrown on the motor.....at least if you want it to last a while.
The problems with a "kit" are that they can make the power but you'll have to upgrade other things to make it work without killing everything else.

You have to upgrade the Power Plant Frame, clutch, and rear end just for starters. That stuff alone is almost 2k worth of parts. You'll also need a better radiator and a ingnition, the list goes on and on I'm sure. Its not that easy to just whip up a low 10 second reliable car that harneses 500hp!!!!! You'll be VERY close to the limit of the stock transmission as well. This stuff doesnt even take into consideration things like launch kits and such.
