How do you guys control wheel hop?

I have gone drag racing twice this year and made probably 15 passes. My car seems capable of better and I know it is in the launch. I ran a 12.6@114 the first time with a 2.1 60'ft. Then another 12.6@118 with an M2 lg intercooler, but with a 2.3 60'ft. These were the two best launches I have been able to get on my nitto drag radials. I get horrible wheel hop and have tried them at anywhere from 15-35 psi and all different rpms. I have m2 toe links and trailing arms on order but will these really elimate it?

Thanks,

Nick

Unhappy wheel hop

I just put toe links, trailing links and konis on my car and no more wheel hop Thank God!! It didn't miracly improve my sixty foot times, but its a hell of alot easier launching without it feeling like there's a jack hammer under the car. I tried 15psi and differnt launching techniques and I still was a hoping. Don't launch your car until you fix your wheel hop problem.I finally ended up snaping the power plant frame before putting on the links and shocks! Just say No to wheel hop!!

Hey Nick, it seems like the trailing links and some solid diff bushings (like the Unobtanium ones) are the keys to eliminating wheel hop, from what I have seen and read. I think Pettit, M2, and Rotary Performance all have products that target this issue.

12.6@118 is pretty nice!

That is some mad top end speed man!

You should definately be able to get that 60' time MUCH lower. A few weeks ago i ran my car and was able to pull a few 2.25's and a 2.15 60' and that was with my street tires (Kumho Supras). And I think i can get the car to launch alot harder with those tires too. I had way too much wheelspin.

Thanks guys, I was real happy with my MPH. I have the Unobtatium bushings ordered so hopefully those will be here within a few weeks and with the toe links and trailing arms it will get rid of it. Was it real obvious that you snapped your PPF? I'm just wondering if I have broke anything yet, it seems to hop way easier than it used to after that first time going to the track.

Cool

When I was still sequential I was able to pull consistant 1.9 60' times on street tires. I would launch at 5,000 rpms and kind of slip the clutch out rather than just dumping it off the line.

power plant frame

It just started with a crack and grew. I started hearing a clunking sound form the rear end and didn't know what the hell it was. I thought maybe it was the toe links maybe the diff bushings. Well a friend of mine was under the car and saw the crack and told me to take a look. It had broken completely on top were it bolts to the diff and was almost doing the same on the lower mount. Can you imagine that thing breaking while driving the car? I don't think you need the bushings. I haven't changed them on mine, but they might help in getting the power down. Ive been able to get 1.9 sixty foot times on dunlops. Launching at about 3000rpms but letting out the clutch softly. It seemed to help the car squat a little before putting the power down. Bad for the clutch though.
