Arrow Hit the strip Friday w/mixed results

Mods listed below, 10# primary, 13# secondary, 30 psi of pressure in 245/45 Potenza S02pp's on stock rims.

60ft--------2.997
1/8 ET------9.6
1/8mph----88.6
1/4 ET-----14.03
1/4 mph---112.xx

This run was with no launch b/c I'm afraid of blowing up my rear diff. Also, my synchros in 2nd, 3rd and 4th are all grinding so I can't powershift. Also, my Tanabe suspension was way too stiff; next time I'm going to soften it.

Well, what do you guys think? W/a good launch and strong tranny, am I looking at mid 12's here?

YES, I think you can get low 12s easy. For every 0.1 sec off of your 60 ft time you get 0.1 to 0.2 off of your 1/4 mile time. I got this rule from Ari and I've confirmed it elsewhere time and time again. You had a really good 60 ft time before, so I know you can get it again. If you get it back to 2.0 or even 1.9 I think you will be in business. I have talked with SPAuots about drag racing and he has a very similar setup to you and runs the car frequently. I think you can do it. You need to drop tire pressure to the 20 something range and soften up the back shocks so it will squat down a little more on take off. You have a lot more torque up high and not as much down low now compared to when you did your last 1/4 mile run. You are going to have to find the rpm where you should launch again.

Anyway, what happened to the phone call I was going to get this weekend?

if this helps:

i ran 1/8 mile last week.

60'.....2.009

330'.....5.996

1/8....9.206

my boost was at 8psi, dropping to 6psi at 5500-6000 or so.

probably wont help, but i have a Turbo II.

88mph in the 1/8 is good for a 7.8 or around there. thats around 12.3 or so.

Hello there Boosted & Black my friend,

if you read the entire post, you will see that I didn't launch at all. Reason being, I can't afford to replace my rear diff or an axle. Light turned green, I slowly eased up on the clutch and floored the accelerator.

Carson, I'll call you man, I promise . As I'm sure you can understand, things have been crazy around here.

Here is the deal. You have the mods and RWHP to put down real low 12's and maybe even high 11's with a VERY good launch. Youre going to need a set of drag radials and if you have stock wheels you'll have to get Nittos as BFG doesnt make on to fit our stock wheels.

With intake, full exhaust and Power FC running 12-12.5 psi on my Automete gauge (it shows higher than the PFC) I ran a 12.3 @ 113 with Nittos and 17psi of tire pressure. That was with stock motor, stock turbos, stock IC, stock clutch!!!!! So I'm sure with some Nittos, a good burnout, 4K rpm launch and a little luck you might hit VERY high 11's but easily low 12's

Oh yea, the only way your going to break your rear with 330rwhp is with severe wheel hop. If you get some drag radials they will help eliminate wheel hop. Lowering your tire pressure to about 17psi will also help with the wheel hop for drag radials or normal tires either one.

You should have to worry to much about the rear untill you get around 380 rwhp and running in the deep 11's, I'd say your ok for now

Hope it helps,

Thanks for the good info Steven. If I had ~$400 to blow I'd definitely buy a pair of stock rims and get some drag radials.

I've actually had BFG's on the rear stock rims...255/50 comp TA's fit, believe it or not.

You'll need that single turbo, big man, because I've got superior driving skillz, yo! Btw, wanna help me rebuild my tranny ?

Hopefully you'll have your "1990 Honda Civic Single Turbo Kit" installed by the time I get to GA...

What kind/size of wheels do you have now? I only said stock because of your pic in the sig has stock wheels. You just need to get a pair of drag radials no matter what wheels you have. If BFG doesnt have any get Nittos. For the stock size Nittos are like $120 each and work real good.

I knew they sold 255/50/16 but I figured they would look real tall and bulge out with the stock wheel plus Tire Rack said they would rub. I was going to get a pair in that size but didnt since i thought they would look like *** and might not fit. How do they look???? Do you have any kinda close up pics of them on stock wheels???

If your coming to Atlanta and you guys are going to meet up you better be running good cause I want to hook up too!!!!! We can all go racing together!!!!! When you coming down??? Can I be included?

If so I'm ready, I should have my air duct finished this week, my xs tuned Power FC back Thur. All I have to do now is order a new set of drag radials (my Nittos are drivable but with no tread!!!) and I'll be set to destroy the both of you hehe

Stephen: I might come down and hang out with you sometime soon. When are you headed to the strip again?

Rich: Stephen is the guy in Birmingham that I met on my way to TX last time. He is the one who build his own SMIC.

I'm not positive. I want to hit the track when I get my car all done so I can see how much inprovement I get over the 12.3

I want to go sometime in the next few weekends. When I go its usually a spert of the moment kinda thing. We should plan it in advance. I can go almost any weekend, my car might not be 100% but I dont care. I just like going. I have a friend Brian with a TII thats going to be real bad. He's hoping to be done this month sometime and i know we'll be going to the track to test his car out.

I returned your PM with my cell phone number......did you get it??? That was a pretty quick move you made to Tx, guess that kinda sucks....I hate moving, and then to be going back and forth is really bad.

Anyway, email me and maybe we can work something out.

Later,
STEPHEN

Umm...hey pal, did I offend you w/my previous post? Maybe your skin is too thin. I know I'm not your ******* friend, I was trying to introduce some humor into the post so you'd see I wasn't busting your *****. I see you didn't grasp this.

Don't over-react, this is a forum for fellow rotary enthusiasts...take it easy.

i dont care for most rx7 people. Most are weird and frankly scare me to be around. Thats most likely the reason you have never met me. i dont hang out with the "dallas Rx7 people". ill leave this topic alone, so you can have people tell you that you could run 12s.

112mph is good for mid to low 12's, depending on what tires you go with
