Few questions about my engine parts
Few questions about my engine parts
Just pulled my 87 t2 engine out of my 86 model and noticed the clutch wasnt in good shape but i have 87 act 6 puck non turbo'd clutch and wanted to know if that will work on my t2. Also I noticed there was writing on the tranny saying " 87 mazda rx-7" so i think the tranny might be from a junkyard and might not even be a t2 tranny. My dad and I are going to try and get 350rwhp when were done with the car so I wanna know if theres a simple way to find out what kind of tranny is it. Any helpl would be great for now.
If the na clutch fits on the spline(tranny's input shaft) it's an na tranny. T2 trannies have a larger input shaft. Also you can tell by the flywheel. The na flywheel has raised mounting points for the pressure plate and the turbo flywheel is flat.(at least that's how I remember the na flywheel looking. Bin a while since I looked at the na)

The type (n/a, turbo) tranny must match:
1) the pressure plate
2) clutch disc
3) flywheel
4) driveshaft
The engine must have the proper weighted flywheel/counterweight also. So S4 na and S4 turbo flywheels can be interchanged, S5 w/ S5 etc...
