fd motor w/ tii tranny???
o.k. i currently have an fb body and a fd motor... the motor was in a automatic third gen. ... i would like to mount a tii flywheel and clutch set on this motor and use a tii tranny behind it... is this do-able without having to replace the rear plate on the motor??? (starter issues???) doesn't the starter mount on the bell housing?? and will it line-up w/ the fly wheel??? i know somebody has done this out there somewhere!!! hook me up with some knowledge....

i dont want to thread jack but it seems your question was answered so heres mine in relation to that.
can you bolt the s5/s4 bellhousing to the s6 trans and run a s5/s4 clutch, and yes would use the s5/s4 slave cylinder and starter?
again sorry for the jack\
z
p.s. no offence RETed on the ignition thread

The FD trans input shaft is shorter (by like 1.5"), so this will not work.
You need to use gear box + bell housing.
You need to stick with the pull-type or push-type clutch each trans uses.
You can use a push-type kit for the FD trans to run a push-type clutch - see OS Giken.

Okay, my turn to hijack the thread. :-) Will a TII tranny bolt up to an early first-gen 4-port engine? If so, what's involved in making it work? I.e., what flywheel and clutch should be used?

thank you for the responce to my question... i guess the reason i put this out there was to find out if it would matter, because the automatic third gen. rear plate is different than the manual third gen. rear plate... apparently the automatic car didn't need the inspection hole that the manual needed... and the starter mounts different on the third gen automatic than the manual... have ethier of you been through this??? or has anybody else seen this or done this before??? just want to be sure... thanks again
btw, I AM STEALING MY THREAD BACK!!! jk(:

well, the simplest thing i can think of is to get the automatic rear counterweight for your year/model engine and then what we told Dayton to do with clutch and starter. any other way and you will have balance issues.
