Exhaust jobs w/o the pre cats
Exhaust jobs w/o the pre cats
Im re-doing my exhaust and was curious if anyone experimented with different things that exclude the 2 pre-cats and also if it still air cared well??
i know they make lots of pipes and **** that are designed to exclude these, but then what kind of cat was used, and how did it affect performance?
my car will still be a daily, its just such a bitch to worry about replacing those weanie cats...

Well, I'm running a mildly modded NA, on stock exchaust but stripped the catsd. So basically its straight-thru to the mufflers. Runs great, very responsive, but do get the occasional backfire flame LOL. Also, not nearly as loud as I thought it would be. Very pleasing actually.
Oh, by the way...do NOT strip the cats if you plan on passing emissions

well, your rex has 3 cats (if still stock). So if you had to keep one, I would say the one closet to your engine, or the first cat FROM your engine. If you remove your other two, MAKE SURE YOU INSPECT the cat your keeping! rex's are notorious for burning cats, and there is some screen matierial that can block exchast.
I still stand on my first comment tho...dont plan on passing emissions
