Engine Managment? Link, Haltech or Others? 4 a Turbo II 13b
Does anyone here know a lot about engine management setups?
I have an RX2 with a 12a setup, right now I just want to get it going but later on (1 year or so) I want to find a 13b and Supra gearbox for a more updated setup.
this of course means I will nead a computer to control the new engine.
What could be considered the best Stand Alone setup for a 13b turbo 2 motor?
I was looking at the LINK ECU from NZ, and the Haltech, but also a few others. The link seems to pack quite a punch and has a ton of upgrades / modules for even more functionality. I really like that feature.
Well anhow let me know or point me in the right direction.
Thanks!

There isn't any "best" EMS for the 13BT. It depends on what you like. Every EMS does basically the same thing, but you need to decide how to weight factors like map and injector resolution, SFI vs. batch fire, onboard 2D/3D boost control, datalogging, closed loop control, narrow vs wideband O2 sensor support, hand controller, live software, map storage, rev limiter, turbo timer, Windows vs. DOS, local support, etc.
Since you are in Sacramento, you may want to check out the Wolf3D, because the US distributor is just a few miles away in Rancho Cordova. IMO local support makes a big difference.

Most EMS products have a web site where you can download their manual and software to try out the system before you buy. This is nice given the high price tag of an EMS.

I installed a Wolf3D into an RX2 with 13BT last year.
It worked well, and was a relatively straightforward install. The hardest part was modifying the crank sensor to suit the Wolf, but that is just a matter of gring off most of the teeth on the wheels in the CAS.
The new Microtech LT8 can use the CAS unmodified, along with the stock coils and igniters for a 13BT, and is similar in features to the Wolf.
It comes down to local support, especially for tuning.

i live in NZ, every 2nd workshop has a person with great piles of LINK experience, alot of them will even advise people with link's on rotaries to sell them and buy something else.
Link will run anything, pretty much anything will run anything, but LINK and rotary's are almost like polar and non polar molecules. they dont get along all that well.
I would recoment a Haltech, Microtech, Wolf before i'd recomend a LINK to someone with a rotary. I dunno what prices you guys are paying for LINK's over there but i wouldn't think they'd be much cheaper, if at all compared to the LTX8 microtech.
