Efini Y -Pipe, How hard is it to adapt to an aftermarket intercooler?

I have my eyes on the M2 meduim but I hear its a bitch to fit with the enfini Y-pipe. I need the Y-pipe cause I got a boost leak I am sure is coming from there. I hate to spend the same money on just a stock Y-pipe when there is a benefit with the all metal Efini unit. Also what intercooler fits well if any with the Y-pipe Mod?
Mods
ATR SS Downpipe
ATR SS Midpipe
Apexi PFC
Apexi Power Intake
Greddy SP cat back
Powerstop Rotors, Axxis Pads
Speedbleeders
Strut tower brace
Autometer Boost gauge, A-pillar mount
Bridgestone S-02's ,Powdercoated wheels
Mazdatrix Shortshifter

I almost started swearing once I read your post and it reminded of my efini y pipe to M2 Med IC experience. I'll go ahead and say some cuss words for you just incase you decide to do it. Any IC that uses the stock IC piping, PFS IC, old pettit ic, greddy stock IC I think will work fine with the efini y pipe. Here's what involved with making the efini y pipe to m2 ic. you have to cut the top 1/4 to 3/8th inch off the efini y pipe. Then the normal rubber coupler you used with the stock y pipe is needed again. trim it a little as well so that when you push the top pipe of the M2 iC down as far as you can.

Are you sure its the pipe or just the coupler? YOu have to use the coupler with the M2 IC but does flow better.

I am sure its leaking from the coupler. I tightened the hose clamps and I got a couple more pounds of boost but its not 100%. I know its leaking. I hate to buy another stock Y pipe because they will all fail eventually again for the same reason. I have the air box out as well and ordered an Apexi intake. Now I read somewhere that it wont work with the M2 Meduim either. I may say **** the M2 intercooler. The hose from the Y-pipe to the BOZ was so hard and bittle it broke in half when I took it off today. Heat=Bad for rubber parts. I may just go with the Sotck Mount greddy or maybe a FMIC. Any ideas?

effini y-pipe to smic aftermarket intercooler

Check out the group buy discussion under vendors/group buy/smic
This intercooler kit mounts closer to the nose and offers a effini connector tube as an option. The extra space allows the curves necessary...You can see the amount of room avail from the posts of chadwick.

I think I would try to change the O-ring in the stock pipe first for
$ 3.50 and see if that repairs your boost leak.
