Cryogenic rotors?

I have a question what about frozen rotors? a friend of mine just got his pistons in his firebird cryogenicly tempered he told me that it would help with the rotors the block and the apex seals they called it deep cryogenic tempering and that the motor and all the internals would last longer and it would be cheaper than ceramic coating if anyone has some information about this that would be great I dont want to wreck my motor

No....actually i know people that have done it to their snowmobiles. I was thinking of having my rotor housings and apex seals done. if you're rebuilding your motor, i guess that's a little something you could add. I'm definitely doing my tranny though, when that gets rebuilt next summer.

There are some bigger threads on this subject, and maybe even some people who have actually done it.
Search for cryo, that should get you some threads to read

I dont think the rotors will help, if anything would help it might be the compression seals and springs(apex, side, and corner seals and springs). The housings might help a little also but they will cost alot more to treat.

From my discussions with Rob @ Pineapple Racing and Bryan @ Performance Cryrogenic. There are benefits are benefits if the Apex seals and the housings are treated. Cost for a complete engine is around 650.00. You need to make sure and use a company that does Cryogenic tempering ve. treating.

I have done some checking and was not able to find ANY proven scientific evidence that the cryogenic freezing of Ferris or non Ferris steel grain structures improved. This was about 6 to 7 years ago. BUT I have had brake rotors frozen ( which gave me a 10% overall improvement in life ). This was about a wash in cost for replacement verses the cryo cost. Also I have had gun barrels cryoed ( Both steel and stainless) giving me about 15% improvement. "That is impressive." So either it is which craft or my numbers were screwed up. OH and by the way I didn't FCK up my numbers. It works and I have no Idea why.

If anyone has more recent info on how Cryogenic freezing changesthe grain srtuctures of steels I would love to see it.
