The guru tranny set + new bearings from mazda and shipping will run about 6k or so and I is Poor.... at least to poor to just go out and get one... I may have to save and try to get the Axia sports gear set for 4K...
|
4K?
F' that I rather have a Richmond 4+1 $1,800 plus shifter there gears are loud but with the right shifter you can shift with out the clutch theres a vid of a TII with it lost the link tho |
That's not the $1800 richmond :) That's a pro-shifted (or was it a full-on dog gear setup?) Doug Nash :) The $1800 Richmond is a regular old synchro tranny, no clutchless bang shifts there!

I don't know but I could swear
Exit and Crispeed are using the same Transmission The Richmond 4+1 transmission https://www.jegs.com/photos/836705.jpg Jegs and Summit only list one type of 4+1 It is the seguential(Pro) shifter that makes it semi-clutchless as I understand it |

yes That is why the 4+1 is a street/strip tranny
It is tame enough for the street strong and qucik shifting for the Track |

I'll do you one better :) :
Originally posted by crispeed I'm running the Dougnash/Richmond 4+1 5-speed pro-shifted version. The pro shifted version come with straight-cut gears and dog-synchros! Hey Evil Aviator I don't think the Mazda comp tranny can handle the torque of the 20B motor! The T-56 can handle a lot of torque but they shift like grannys once they get above 6500rpm:) One of the best road race trannys out there and one that a buddy of mines is using in his 3-rotor road race car is made by a company called Zanes, not to sure about the spelling though.:) The tranny has a quick change design and is very strong and sfifts up and down without the clutch. crispeed 87TII 9.20@150mph |
LoL :)
Ok but it is the $1,800 4+1 with opitional gears How much more are the cut/dog sync/gears? |
Lots :)
The ram-rod/front-back gate shifter he uses has nothing to do with being able to shift clutchless, (neither does a sequential shifter) it just makes it easier to not miss a shift! BTW if $4k is too much, Quaife has a 6-speed setup for the T2 transmission, it has straight cut gears and the beefiest dogs on the gears that I've ever seen, and it only costs about $7000! ($4k is a bargain now isn't it? :) ) |
If you want 'beefy' check out the GURU set, sorry to put down the quaife but they are chalk and cheese re the quality and strength.
|
But at least it costs a lot, right? :)
Hmm, good point though... what kind of warranty does the Guru set-up offer? IIRC the Quaife goods have an unconditional lifetime warranty. |
twister: i was supposed to see the Guru gearset when Kelvin(??) was coming to the states. They asked me my # and said they'd call but never did. I was rather disappointed.....
|
Hi,
I just spoke to Rohan re that, they went to E-town for the drags about 6 weeks ago, they finished up only having a stopover at LAX, most of the time was spent in NY & Texas. I am sorry about Rohan not contacting you but he will be back in the states later in the year he said, so hopefully he will get more time on your side of the states to come and see you and some of the other guys. |

I think the viper tranny is the best way to go with a street car thats raced often. Modified Vipers with 650+ hp still use the stock tranny effectivly and reliably. There is no need for a 4k+ tranny that will not be comfortable to drive in street use. With the Viper tranny you can still have the smooth clutch assisted shifting and keep the car noise free but still hold 600 hp. Plus you can brag to your friends and tell them that you have a Viper tranny :)

Get a bell housing adapter made, longer imput shaft (I think that Mike Long or Mark Williams can help out on that), New drive shaft, custom mounts. Im not sure how the tranny will line up with the stock shifter position so you migh have to modify the interior. If you know someone that fucks with fiberglass then you can make a new center console that will fit with the shifter position. You could even make a few to sell :). Could you imagine 600 rwhp and smooth transitional shifting onthe street WHOOOHOOOO!!! Sounds like the ultimate street car :), And not to mention the 6th gear for gas saving :D
