Putting a turbo on a stock N/A 6 port can be done but I don't think it is very practical. For one the compression is higher and you will not be able to safely run much boost. You would have to put a good bit of cash to get the parts to do this and end up with a half-*** motor (as opposed to a low compression motor built for a turbo and ported)
Best bang for the buck would be a straight up T-II conversion or build a bad *** motor and get an aftermarket ECU.

Nestrorx7- I was in the same position a few months ago. I wanted more from my 88 SE. I added up all the costs and time of trying to convert to turbo and then though about all the time I would be spending to basically put half the parts from one car onto/into mine and decided that it would be more practical to just buy the car I was trying to make mine be. The SE is fun to drive and a great beginner car but in my opinion, sell your SE and find a decent Turbo II.
