Braided fuel hose help

How do you guys introduce the red socket end of the AN fitting on the hose?

I finished all three fuel hoses, but the finish product is not "pretty", the braided part looks wrinkled around the red socket area How do you guys do it?

I dont have the steadiest hands so I would just leave the masking tape on from when I cut the hose, then just put the fittings over them. It will keep the braids from unraveling, then I just trimmed off the tape that was still visable

Wrap hose tightly with tape before cutting.

Cut hose with a cutoff wheel or zizz wheel

using very sharp diagonal cutting pliers, cut off any frizzy wires

This should produce a nice smooth hose end which can be easily inserted into the red nut.

I tried that, but inserting the end is a PITA

I used a dremel, the end result is a smooth cut. It seems like the red AN end is about 1/8-1/16 smaller than it should (or the hose is OD is larger).
