Best way to 260-280 hp?

I'm trying to find out what the best way to get either a 12a or early 13b up to the 260 to 280ish range (crank hp not wheel hp)

From what I've heard, bridge porting and P porting (Noob here can't spell it) can hut fuel economy and make for a very loud car. A sort of loud engine is OK but I don't want to have to wear ear-buds every time I start it. Maybe an aggressive street port?

Also, I was planning on going for a carb over FI. Mainly because the engine wont be in a rx-7(wont say what just yet, due to possible flames and laughter.... I will say that it doesn't have any form of computer in it), and I think a standalone ECU might be needed to get a FI system to work.

Also, would it be possible to make this much power N/A without extreme porting or should I look into trying to convert the engine to a turbo? If so, what all would I need to do this? (would I need a computer system of some sort with it or could it be used mechanically? Can it be done carb'd or dose a turbo need to be used on a FI engine?)

sorry for the long list of noob questions, I did a bit of searching but I didn't find much.

well 280 out of a n/a isint unheard of but they are monsters and when driven on the street arnt for everyone.

a peri port is loud

a bridgeport is alittle loud but streetable..no louder then a mustange with a flowmaster exhaust

and to turbo its best and cheapest to start with a turbo motor as the ports and everything are designed to work with it. if u use a n/a motor to start with u basically end up building the turbo motor and spending more.

and yes turbos can be used with a carb. its called blow through or draw through turbo setup search for thous words.

but it in costs the same to turbo a carbed motor as it does to to just add efi. and the efi is more reliable and holds a setting

and for your goals turbo would be the cheapest

I can't seem to find ANY rotary engines here, N/A or turbo. I'm guessing that if I could get my hands on a 13B from a s4 or s5 TII then I could just do a street port and I/H/E to get it to the 260 range. The only thing I don't know about is if those engines have the rats nest up top or if that was just the 12a's.

I know there is a east TN club here, you guys know any good places to get engines?
