Australian Jamboree Results!

Just thought I'd start a quick thread giving you all an update on the racing in Australia over the weekend.

The Jamboree is the biggest 4 Cylinder and Rotary drag meeting of the year.

Everyone was expecting the big hitters to come out and play, unfortunately this also meant a very large number of breakages and oildowns. I think partly due to everyone pushing pretty hard, and also the surface being relatively sticky. It was a pretty hot day (85 F) and there was a large crowd in attendance from all over Australia enjoying the sunshine (probably 15,000+)

The 20B rail of Corey Armstrong had a few dramas on it's pass but was quickest on the day, running a 7.7.

The Pac Performance RX-3 sedan came out and ran a very strong 7.88 at an amazing 179mph! Impressive considering the aerodynamics of the car! This RX-3 does not have a "smooth" fibreglass front like a lot of the US cars that I saw, so we can expect big things from their MX-6 which is currently in the build.

Archie from Mazfix ran a strong first pass in his 20B powered 3rd Gen RX-7. It carried the front wheels a long way on the launch, but then the chute failed to deploy and then the brakes locked and the car touched the armco in the deepend after crossing the line with a low 8 second pass

Rotormaster came out for last pass of the night and ran through for a 7.86 @ 171 for a new PB (and quickest "doorslammer" of the night)

Bill Nabham from Mazsport came out and set a PB with an 8.25 @ 160 odd mph in his "Series 8" style RX-7.

Expect a full update with photos (and video) on www.fullboost.com.au soon

PS. (Oh and I ran a PB of 10.2 @ 133 in my little first gen RX-7) (And didn't even break a stock Turbo II gearbox in the process!)

The Pac RX3 ran a fairly slow 60ft of 1.35. The car has run a 1.21 60ft and run 4.8 to half track at 150mph. On the 7.8 it went 5.0 to half track @ 145mph. This car will go alot quicker! The box is also a manual shift, no airshift.

Its also essential to note that this is a customers car, their own full chassis carbon fibre MX6 is yet to race

I saw that car this morning - it wasn't a touch - the shock tower has moved over for starters! They're still deciding what to do with it.

BTW Congrats Angus. Are you going for 9's on a t2 box?

Yeah I raced, but the 2nd hand import box we stuffed in the car wasn't up to the gear shifts I tried to dish out. On my first pass I snapped the shifter and couldn't hit any gears, and the 2nd pass I couldn't hit any gears either.

Shifting normal is fine, but hard shifts its not into, so the box will get redone and we see what happens from there

Ito - Whats the quickest 1st gen on your side of the planet? What are Angus and I up against here??

Just a one tone clutch and pressure plate would be fine for under 300rwhp...

I was making an understatement Pete I assumed that after a low 8 @ 160mph one could assume that a touch would be a bit more than a touch

Thanks for the kind words though, and yes I may try for a 9 on a t2 box Although Willowbank is closed for 6 weeks or so while they upgrade the walls and run-off area.
