Aftermarket trannies?

Hey guys my tranny is in horrible shape, and I am in the market for a new one. I want to know if you guys know of any aftermarket tranny companies that make trannies for n/a S5 rx7's. I don't want to do the whole TII running gear swap really, and I know that HKS used to make a dogmission, but I don't want anything like that, I want something that's easily driveable daily. So, I would greatly appreciate it if anyone has any info on aftermarket trannies for 2nd gen/S5 rx7's.

Thanks,

Gabe

If your not afraid to run a custom setup couldnt ya just get like a mustang five speed. Should be strong enough and reasonably cheap.

OK, that's all great, but I don't really want a dogmission/dog box. Is it very hard to put in a 5.0 mustang tranny? What would I have to do in order to retrofit a mustang tranny into my car?

WTF is the point of putting a different trans in an S5 N/A? a few hundred bucks versus a few thousand?

I'm looking into a trans rebuild but was actually thinking a dog engagement trans. I am wondering, what do you think of the Guru trans kit and how streetable it is, as well as anyone else with one? Also, how often does the trans go through dog rings? And finally, the trans will be in a TII trans from an s5, but in an N/A application. Has anyone done this yet?

a tii trany is more than you would ever need in an n/a and i can gaurantee you a full tii driveline swap would be by far cheaper and easier than trying to get another tranny in there.

You can buy an NA transmission from the junk yard for about $150, or you can have yours rebuilt for about $350-800, depending on what needs to be replaced. I don't see much point in spending $1,500-7,000 on a different transmission that is going to require custom mounts, a custom driveshaft, new clutch, etc., if it is just going on a street car with less than 250bhp. If your car has the original transmission, then keep in mind that the "weak" stock NA transmission has lasted 15 years - not bad.

OS giken makes a sequencial 6spd box that fits the FC but not the FD.. they are working on it.. ~$7.5 -8K your choice ofr ratios... also Quaife makes a box if your looking for a WRC style electronic shift system but the price is insane $15K ..
