It's a big myth to think you'd get another "overdrive" gear, but most 6 speeds are not set up that way.

Basically, the 6-speed trans moves old 4th into 5th (1:1) and old 5th into 6th (overdrive).  It just adds another gear in between 1st and 4th, which just makes you shift one extra time.

If you're worried about your top gear, you might want to look into changing the diff ratio or just the 5th gear itself.

didnt mazda put six speeds in the later FD's in japan you would have to make some mounts for it since there set up differnt then your car and i dont know about all the other little stuff though also i believe pineapple racing in portland oregon can take the six speed insides from a miata and put them in a NA fc trans, maybe that something to look into, also search because i remember a post a long time ago talking about similar things

there is an adapter they sell online somewhere for mustang T5 tranny, which i think would also work for borg-warner T56. thats the route i'll go if i ever have the extra cash.
