Need some helpful info please,

been looking into an engine for my RX
I have a 1987 T2 with the og engine in it. I wanna put in a 1989 motor, was wondering if anybody knew exactly what i needed to change or mod. I know that i need to change the Secondaries but other then that i'm, not sure. the engine will be from Japan or the land down under.

I talked to Check Point and they want around 5000, but that's like with porting and rebuilting the engine after it's been imported from japan and installing it also putting in a Wolf 3D EMS. so yeah can anyone help?

or maybe i can just buy the engine with everything and put it in myself for now it'll cost about 2k for engine and tranny (not through checkpoint) as you can tell i'm not really sure what to do or how hard it is to put the engine in.

any comments or suggensions would be helpfull.

If you are just using the block than it is Ok. Japan motor and U.S. 89-91 does not have EGR system so technically it won't pass smog. Injetors have different impedence between 87and late 88 and up. To just get the car running changing the injectors and water pump housing and oil injection pump is pretty much it. Check point's quote is reasonable but some how they are in love with Wolf 3D. 2k for a used JDM engine and tranny! sounds like you are getting ripped off.

 

2k for the tranny and engine is alot, however that's with shipping where-ever i want it :-/ plus it has like the Jap ECU, Wiring Harness, and everything in tacted.
