You'd think these Texas WS6 guys would learn...

Ok, the last time I posted a WS6 kill I was sent to sit in the corner for punishment, so I've gotta watch what I say .

I've only been driving the 7 like once a week for the last 2 months, so when I get a chance to romp on the car I do so with gusto. Last sunday I was traveling from Steve Kan's place in Fort Worth to Chris Teaman's place in Dallas. Steve gave me shitty directions and I had gotten, ummm, misoriented a few times so I was in a pissy mood.

I'm cruising in the left lane at about 80 (lotta traffic) when I see the ram air hood behind me. It swings around into the center lane and pulls up next to me for a look-see--I get this alot b/c of the Efini badges. The driver looks like Jerry Garcia and he has some teenager riding shotgun. He has his windows up (mine are down and I'm crankin' Appetite for Destruction ) and I can read his mouth as he says----GET THIS-----"Nah, I don't think those are all that fast." It would appear he thinks I'm not worthy of his gasoline.

Needless to say, I shake my head at his ignorance. Too much traffic, so I continue on my way and a few minutes later see some daylight so swing into the center lane and make a 3rd/4th gear pull. That must've gotten the guy's attention b/c I see him trying to catch up. Now there is no traffic, so I slow down to about 70 and throw her in 3rd to get into the sweet spot. Hit high boost on the Profec, which is around 14psi at highway speeds. He gets right on my back bumper, I wait a sec to let him get ready, and just as Sweet Child starts I punch it.

8000 rpm in 3rd, 100 mph, shift, almost redline 4th at like 135 and throw her into 5th. The guy is at least 20 cars back. I know he got on it b/c initially I could see his nose lift up a bit and saw some telltale black smoke come from behind his car.

He never caught up and exited shortly thereafter. Now, my car is modded like a **** and and I'm sure he was stock, so not really a fair race at all. I didn't really want to embarrass Jerry in front of his kid. But maybe he'll think about the "wolf in sheep's clothing" or "don't judge a book by it's cover" adages next time he decides to insult someone

A Ram-Air Firebird/transam with like 330 hp and oodles of torque. I've driven one extensively and can tell you they have too much motor for the brakes and suspension.

If you're into auto-x, this is a tell-tale sign. A regular T/A is classed in F-stock; with all the other Camaro's and other F-bodies (LS1, LT1, L98 ....). The WS6 package bumps up into B-stock ... which means, the WS6 not only has power but a pretty decent suspension to boot. They're fast cars ... me with a downpipe and my broke-*** turbos (smoking and only getting 8 psi) couldn't pull on one. He didn't pull on me either; but it gives you an idea of how fast they truly are.

Excellent kill Rich !

So many of these domestic car owners "think" they are driving the biggest, baddest thing on the road...uhhhh, not the case.

Any car can be modded to go like stink, but people should be more wary of Japanese sports cars with forced induction (RX7s & Supras come to mind ).

Lord help their azzez on a track or a road course - no prayer unless its a ZO6.

Good kill for Goodfella!

See ya,
Matt

The WS-6 is a T/A with ram air and better suspension. Run about a 13.4 in the 1/4 stock. People who think our cars aren't fast, are MORONS!

Anyways good kill Rich.

Thumbs up

Hey Rich, you're quite the story teller.

A stock WS6 will be no match for one of your caliber mods. Especially at 14 lbs.

I know of a couple cammed/bolt-on only LS1's that would be down for some competitive runs if you want to set that up.

Let me know.........and tell Chris to get his car the F out of his garage so we can put in my headers! J/K............

BTW, Great Kill! Cocky dudes like that one always suck and should kneel down for it.

Somehow I knew you'd reply in this thread . So where's the avatar of that wrestler dude you like?

I'll race anyone for the hell of it, as long as the road conditions are safe. You can always tell them to show up for the next Motorsports Ranch event to try and hang with the FDs . I just put 2 and 2 together--you're the guy with the cobra-commander looking emblems on your car and the really hot g/f, right? I had no idea that was you--I'll be at Chris's sometime this weekend, maybe we can all hang out.

take it easy--
Rich

Ding, ding, ding...............Bingo..........that's me.

No custom avatar yet..................haven't been here long enough.

Cobra Commander emblems?................hahahahaha!LOL!

I never thought of that but yeah, I guess it does look like that from far away.

That is my production company logo when I used to throw raves back in the day.

and yeah..........she's pretty hot if I do say so myself. Thanks for the compliment.

I was at Chris' when he had his last barbecue a couple weekends ago. I thought you knew me by now.

Nice kill. Last time I tried a WS6 I got smoked three times. It just was not going to happen for me that day. Of course I'm giving up about 90 hp to your fd.

If you're putting down ~280 to the ground, you should still be able to whoop a stock WS6, esp. at highway speeds. Are you talking about 1/4 mile type racing?

Hey Goodfella.. nice kill.. Fort Hood eh? I feel sorry for you there.. watch out for all the "stunnas" there determined to get themselves or somebody else killed with their Honda's..

Where did you get dyno'd at? I'm guessing not Fort Hood since I never found a dyno in a shop there.. There's several 300ZX TT's running around there, or were when I was there, that would give you a good run. One is red with black trim, driven by a guy named Mike who I think is a Captain on post. The other's a silver one with yellow front grill and some chrome exhaust.. can't remember what kind he installed. His name's Earl. They both might still be on post or might have ETS'd or left by now. They run the brackets at Temple Academy usually, so you might have already run into them. If you ever head out to Odessa area, send me an email, I'd love to check out that Rex. Got humbled by a Rex here in town and been wary of them ever since.. hehe...

Peace.

Yellow R1 exactly!
I raced this LS1 2 years back and they guy did pretty much the same double-take mumbling something about "nah, it ain't fast.....4 cylinder" (or he same something like small engine). His car was stock and I was only making 305 rwhp at the time.......whooped him good but a few months later.......no lie.........I started messing around with this chick and she wanted me to do the meet the parents thing.......I met the parents and something seemed wierd or familiar. Then the dad came outside and looked in the driveway........any guesses?

Lol....yeah, this place is rice central. The saturns and MX-3's with those huge aluminum wings don't know what to do when they see me on the highway

I dynoed the 368 at KD Rotary back in March when the car was in PA. I've dynoed many times up at RP in Garland.

The only Z's I've seen around here are near stock. At the strip, I'm sure there are some in the area that can hang with me. On the highway, I'd rape them unless they were pushing over 450 to the wheels.

If you're ever in the Fort Hood area, shoot me a PM--I'll be happy to give you a ride and scare the **** out of you

LOL.. well, as crazy as I drove when I first got my license, you probably can't scary me.. but I'm willing to find out the hard way..

Sooner or later I will be driving through Killeen on the way to Lufkin, so when I do know that trip's coming up I'll try to arrange it so we can meet up. We'll check out the cars and go get some food or something.. wife'll be along, so she'll want food.. hehe...

The only thing sleeper I saw at TA while I was there was this freak Neon that ran either 12's or 13's.. can't remember now which it was.. either way it was completely stock looking.. scary thought.. other than that nothing running around town when I was there that bothered me.

I made the mistake of stopping at that car wash one night on Rancier... god.... high school kids man.. I thought I was never going to get rid of them..

I wish I had remembered some of the names of guys there a little better.. best I can other than those Z's is a guy who drives older model and sometimes newer Supra's... I can't for the life of me remember his name, but he's a kinda tall black guy, skinny, drives an older Supra that if I remember right was Twin Turbo.. but don't quote me on that.. heh.. all of them used to goto TA every so often mostly on Friday's. Dude, run the **** out of TA while you are there, because here in West Texas, the track is hour and a half away and costs 20 to run, and is full by 7:30.. so you get like 3 runs all night in... Miserably disappointing. You can find some chumps at Deepstage if you just want to take their money.. they have alot of show but hardly any go.. that might have changed since I left, but I doubt it. The Honda shop down by *** Auto is another shack of chumps, or were when I was there.. easy pickings. Not a turbo in either house, with the exception of a Supra that frequents the Deepstage place.

Well, take it easy at Hood, and take care of that 7. I'll pm you when I know I'm gonna be in town, and you let me know if you end up on I20 anywhere close to Odessa and I'll drive up. Peace.
