A single turbo clean FD owns all the cars mentioned above. Seriously, I have 3 FDs and an RX8. Don't you guys think I "could" sell them and get some kind of viper or porsche? Other cars are gay. LOL

His car likely makes more power than yours does and it weighs 700+ lbs less. It's called power-to-weight ratio.

I would take my FD over a Viper or a Porsche any day. Unless it was a GT2. I would trade up for that. But anything less than a GT2 and I am sticking with the FD. I test drove a 2002 turbo before I got the FD. They are nice; but to civil if you ask me. The cost of modding them to be as fast as I demand was too high. For how much they weight they need to have 500whp to make them fast. It added another 20K onto the cost of the car to make it fast.

I thought about the Viper but decided it was a "red neck lotto ticket" and said no. I do like Vipers though. You can get a hard top one in the high 30s now. Drop another 10K or so in mods to make them fast and you have your self a real monster. That is a bargen if you ask me. The only problem is in the end you still have that middle aged gold chain wearing red neck just won the (pick a southern state) lotto image.

wow your FD must be really fast if you wouldnt take a turbo 911 over the FD..i mean aside from performance, a 911 turbo?? how can you turn that down??

and yes, the GT2 are monsters stock, i would do anything for a car like that..that would be a car i would get if i was rich, not a ferrari or anything..i really respect porsche cause 99% of the cars they produce are well done, they didnt slack on anything..well except for the older boxsters, those things are a pos..the new ones have improved though..

i mean these cars perform and handle great stock, do the minor upgrades and you have yourself a beast..no need to go crazy on engine work or turbo upgrades etc etc...

you dont just get a porsche because you have the money or you think its fast, you get it because it is a porsche..that right there should explain it all..

i love porsche if you havent known already

exactly, I would trade my fc and maxima plus about 30k for a 911. EVen an older one. he is just talking ****. of course modding a 9-15k car is not gunna be the same as modding a $90k+ car. I mean come on, you can get fd motors for less than 3 grand. how much doyou think a 911t motor costs?

^^yeah true but i mean like despite of how cheap our parts are, its a totally different ball game when you start modding high end sports cars..

at least with our cars, its relatively cheap so going fast for cheap is the only thing on our mind..so at least if something goes wrong, it can be replaced with minimum $$..when people start modding high end cars, they mod it respectively to a point to where its still reliable, still retains the same stock feel and still be faster than most normal cars that had 10-15k + in upgrades..

i mean you dont see modded porsches, viper owners that say, o yeah, im on my second engine and 3rd tranny..

The Rustang weighed in at 3270 lbs.....

If a 1.3L turbo can beat a Viper, why can't a 6.5L?

And as a racer, I'm very well aware of what power to weight ratio is.

I coul not part with my FD..A 911 Turbo would be tempting...but it would take a 959....

Well at the track I see a handfull of porsches everytime. Some are stock others are hitting 9 sec. All street driveable of course. And it wasnt no old *** 944 or anything cheap. If you buy a 911 or gt2 or a car like that, its most likely just because of the style and sporty rarity. But there are those that buy it for the performance aspect of it. And im sure if you can throw down 100k+ on a weekend cruiser, then you should have enough money to play with it...

My girlfriend's dad has a 911 and I have had the chance to drive it on occasion, definitely wouldn't trade my FD for it though especially with the single turbo now. He used to have a viper but sold it because he hardly drove it, **** I would have kept that over the 911 and driven the hell out of it. Don't get me wrong though 911's are really nice cars.

Listen, i'm not putting anyone down(BMW grocery getter) but even if youre gonna loos, even if you know it for sure, you gotta run! I dont know about you but how many times do you see one of those driving around? How often do they rev at you? The older crowd that is typically buying these things usually dont open them up and when they do, its most likely not on public roads.

i agree, i'd race him if i had the chance myself too..one time on the way home from a car event at etown, i saw one of the show cars (porsche something, dont know which one cause he debadged it) but it looked like a 911 turbo on the highway and i looked at my friend and im like, if he's gonna race, ill do it, this is def worth a ticket if i get one..

too bad he exited before the highway started to clear..

I agree with you guys (2FATST7S and ulost2my7). Anytime you see a viper and he's willing to run, you should do it. I did and I drive a lumina coupe. .

I test drove a 97 red gts with 39,000 miles in it.I still had my last fd at the time. The viper was a real let down because it was loud but sounded like ****,the the clutch and brake pedal were too close, the seat were real uncomfortable, the front tires wandered all over the road, and it wasnt really that fast up to 100.i thought my fd could have hung with it to at least 80.Maybe .I it was dogged and wasnt running right.I would never buy that gen viper.the newer style rocks, and is much more refined, someday i would like to own a black vert.

I see Viper's, Porsche 911 Turbo's everyday, not to mention the occasional Ferarri. When I see these cars I think, "Hmm, pretty neat", but when I see an FD I think, and usually say, "HOLY **** AN FD!!!! OMGBBQ!!! ". I've seen 6 or 7 FD's in my entire life and it is my dream car. I don't particularly care for exotics, I mean I respect them and all, but I see an FD as a car with much more personality and individuality.

my thoughts exactly^^^ altho i don't see exotics that often over here. in our little town there are a few bimmers, benz's, and a few other nice cars. i DID see this ferrari 328gts tho. omg, was that car nice!!!! it had aftermarket wheels and an exhaust system guaging from the growl it emitted. the driver even waved at me! i was stoked after that encounter

Yea, my FD is very fast. GT3540R, Mandaville street port motor w/2mm ceramic apex seals, etc. etc. 1.08-1.10 bar of boost. Around 430rwhp w/2850lbs w/full tank of gas. Some might call that fast. I suppose it all depends on your perception of fast. It is more than enough to take a stock 911 turbo. It is more than enough to take a stock GT2 for that matter.

I agree that you dont need to do that much to make a 911 fast. It just happens that not much = $20,000.00. Being that I was looking at $79,000.00 for a used 2002 turbo with 15K miles on it and then adding mods I was up to almost 100K for a car that could do the same as my FD can do. It ended up being 1500/month to do it. I paid for my FD and all mods in cash and wasnt about to rack up 1/3rd of a house worth of consumer debt just for some additional bling bling factor.

And, in the end, my FD is cooler than a Porsche could ever be. When I pull over in the mountains I always have a crowd come up and ask me about it. People come up to me regualrly in parking lots and ask me about my car. I drive two other cars (M3, WRX) regularly and neither get me anywhere near that kind of attention. Even on my all carbon fiber Ducati I dont get anywhere near the kind of response that I do in my FD.

Which is why the only way I would trade up was if I could afford a GT2 in cash. I dont buy toys on money I dont have. Simple as that.

damn, your setup def seems fast

but i guess i cant argue with you on that..i mean like i said, aside from modding an FD or porsche, how can you turn down a 911 turbo? i mean i know i wouldnt, even if i did own an 11 second daily driven highly reliable FD..but thats just me, other people have different tastes and thats cool..

i dont know about an FD being cooler than a porsche though lol..well it depends which one..the normal carrera, yeah i think my car is cooler than that..but as you step up, the FD becomes like a geo metro..people acknowledge our cars not because they think its "cool" but because its rare (well depending on the area and people)..when the crossfire came out, i would be in shock when i saw one but i didnt think it was cool, i thought it was pretty ugly actually but i would constantly stare time and time again because it was rare..

when people realize the cool car thats driving next to them is just a mazda rx7, they go, "o, its just a mazda, looks cool though"..

I agree that as you step up the FD seems less cool. But a normal 911 turbo isnt enough of a step up. I see base turbos every day. They are very common and too plush for a purist sports car IMHO. That why I said if I couldnt get a GT2 then I would not change cars. With a GT2 or a Carrera GT there is a lot of cool factor. I have never seen either of those two cars on the road. They are also more of a purist car.
