Touge Style: FD vs. 05 STi vs. SRT-4
This was the type of run I could only wish I had recorded. About half a mile ahead of me I see a silver STi tailgating a SRT-4. I try and catch up thinking I may have alittle fun. The STi switches lanes and they start running, I am catching up. The STi seemed to have been almost dead even with the Neon. Finally I catch up and when they see me in the rearview they drop gears. STi on left Neon on right. I knew this entire road was about 2-3 miles long composed of very nice turns. This is my homeground, I raised to a high rpm in second and pushed it. I was on the tail of the STi and could have cornered alot faster but instead of rear ending him I let off a bit. Im surprised the Neon held its own on the turns he had a carbon fiber hood and oviously some other goodies maybe suspension. The STi was oviously modded too and later I found he had a FMIC etc. Anyways we get thru the first turn and the STi is still pushing it we pull out around 80 and I push it to 120. Finally theres a break between the Neon and the STi so I am able to switch lanes getting on the right next to the STi. We approach the next turn I drop gears and slow a bit before the turn. The STi pulls about 2 and half cars in front of me from breaking he switches in the inner lane. I floor it in third im in the powerband. I take the outside lane flawlessly and immediatly start passing him. I break traction because I have the car at full limits which probably is a good thing, im literally stomping on the gas no letting off. This wasnt expected however. I would say its a good thing because being sideways allowed me to take the turn at a ridicously fast speed. I believe it was a power drift because I didnt let off the gas because I knew that would cause kick out. Anyways it felt so good passing him like that on the turn and still gaining speed I felt like the car was a beast something I neevr felt on the straights. I look back and the STi is about 5-6 cars behind me I slow down. He pulls next to me and looks extremely impressed, he asks me what suspension I have. I tell him stock, he laughs not believing me and tells me seing my car sideways was the baddest thing he's ever seen and promises me he will sell his STi for an FD lol. He was looking kind of upset or bothered and then notifys me that "thanks to me" that was his first loss. He continues telling me hes never seen a car take a turn like that flattering my stock 7. I give him thumbs up and we part ways. The Neon drives by me giving me a head nod as if he was either impressed or just shocked on what happened. I was extremely impressed by my cars pretty much stock capabilities. The car is a 93 and outperforms these cars. The main thing that shocked me was loosing traction allowed me to take the turn at a faster speed than with traction. Also that it was easy to control even when traction was lost. Thats about all..God bless
PS. I dont recommend pushing your 7 on turns unless you have learned the cars characteristics.

My cousin's handles well but he prefers to go fast straight as of right now... Oh aznpoopy slow drivers usually take turns at 120mph lol.. Also anybody can study physics of a how a car "hypothetically" handles but nothing is like the real experience. Every situation is different and cant be simulated thru words. Oh yeah and its "The Circle of Traction" not Tire Traction Circle. Its a simple concept bro, in street racing or touge style driving, you try to stay well inside the limit so that there is traction available to react to unforeseen circumstances. However in my situation I was able to control the oversteer I encountered from being WOT and in doing so was able to maintain a fast speed closest to the apex by weight transfer. This can also be called “maintaining throttle position”. See drifting since you don’t seem familiar with has a core component, weight transfer. With solid steering and throttle inputs, the traction loss can result in a drift which can allow you to play or "surf" physics. Oh and I cant stop street racing I love it! But thanks for the great comments and advice..KOOL

drifting isn't faster unless you're trying to turn inside your minimum turning radius though, for the simple reason that your tires grip more when they are stuck to the pavement.
think about it... do you stop faster if:
you are braking right on the limit
or
you locked your brakes and you're skidding
same concept applies in turning. when you're right on the limit of adhesion, you have more grip available than if you are skidding. if you have more grip available, you can carry more speed, brake later, turn harder, an accelerate earlier.

My races are on the streets. Yes I will admit, but they are always in the 11pm-2am time frame when traffic is least, and always on a straight away.
I love how well my cousins RX7 with only stock suspension handles. it is amazing.
There was a time when I did enjoy taking those apex’s as tight as possible, but it was in my past cars:
