topping out the 7 vid enclosed
|
nice!
So what is that in an fd, 160? |
nice, but doesnt seem like u hvae any head gear or any specific safety device put on. Pretty dangerous to drive that fast -_-
|
said 197 on the power fc commander display after i converted it from kmph umm yea we were just on an open road with no traffic and no copps 4 lane highway going to rotary revoultion last year
|
the car i am in is my 1993 fd same one as in my avatar
|
What's that red wire connect to the key for?
|
it goes to the cig lighter plug and its for my lm-1 wideband
|
what wasthe speed written in KMH ????
ill tell you what speed u were going ... |
it said 317 kmh
|
heres a little bit better vid with the same clip in it
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/9...CA64798506.htm |
How much power are you putting down to achieve this speed? I remember Crazy Dane did a video and topped out his 7 too...Be safe out there.
|
pretty crazy....
|
that was cool.
I liked the second vid better :) |
Thats indicated speed... I wonder what actual ground speed was.. Prolly like 165 170ish?
|
was at 368 after rx7 store tuned it
but prolly up alittle more i leaned everything out just a tad from 10.5-1 to 10.8 to one |
cool!
Be careful bud. |
Well you did about 8k rpm's in 5th gear.
Can anyone convert that to MPH? Not doubting your speed, you def did 180 and a bit more cause rpms were still moving when the needle was on 180 but idk, wont the car be a bit unstable at that speed? I mean one slight movement and that coulda been your ass. |
nice man, u got some big balls of steal. :D
|
Why is it every guy that posts a vid has to include some baggy azz jean wearing homey music that not only blows, but is also so loud you can't hear the car? I guess I'm getting old - all that music sounds the same to me. Ahhh, the days of Rush & Van Halen...where have all the good tunes gone? :)
I digress,....Dude, get your car properly tuned. 356 rwhp is what I had with stock twins @ 14 psi on a heat soaked motor? A properly set up T-78 is good for 450ish rwhp on pump gas. Be careful on the top end, like someone said - one blown tire or mistake & you are likely DEAD. -Matt |

I thought FDs weren't aerodynamic enough to go that fast safe.. Haven't u seen video of a white FD flying into the air at 215 mph in the desert?
|
you are out of control man!
|
i still have stock ports soo prolly whats holding me back

yea it was more of a one time thing wont be going that fast for a while less its on watkens glen back stretch
|
You may have been going faster than you thought.
If this page is correct use .71 for 5th http://v8rx7.com/gearing.htm I don't know the height of your tires, but here's a calculator. Your rearend ratio should be 4.10. http://www.tciauto.com/tech_info/calculators.htm#2 I'm not sure what tires you have on the rear, but you could look up your tire on line or just measure. I'm not sure if the tire grows in height around 200 mph, but I'd imagine you could add a fraction of an inch. 24.7 inches tall 202 mph 25 inches tall 204 mph 26 inches tall 213 mph Careful you're just about at the blow off the road speed. Though the FD has incredible coefficient of drag and minimal frontal surface area it's down force may be a bit challenged.. Sorry to be like a dad, but we care. :) |

Have a good weekend ;) -Matt |
It was an FC that lifted off at 215mph. The speed record for an fd is 23X mph or something like that. Nifty shit thats for sure.
|
rear tires are 245 45 16 fronts are 225 50 16 dont know how big that would be
|
they would be 25 inches

^^ Correct it was RacingBeat's FD, airborne at 215Mph.
|
Nice!!!!
how much of a difference is there once you go over 170???? I'm gonna guess its pretty much the same...things just go by a bit quicker - lol congrats on the huge set of cojones!!!!! |

I love topping cars out, then later I always scare the shit out of myself with hypothetical situations and what if's |

Im not trying to act like a parent towards you cause you're an adult and you make your own decisions but its not only so much about your car "feeling" stable, you can have a tire blowout, lose control due a small imperfection in the road, or other things that can lead to a fatal crash. I remember one time my friend was driving his 01 chevy extreme and those things are slow, he was trying to top it and it would only go 95mph. I guess that was the factory limit and he just tried to hit 100 and the truck shut off completely. And you know when a car is off and you turn the wheel a bit, the steering wheel locks? Well that happened to him at freaking 95mph. The damn steering wheel locked on him and i dont know how he stopped safely. I guess it was an empty highway cause if there were some cars around, he would def crash into them. Just be careful man. |

I know
Tell chevy to fix that problem. |
crazy

lost traction was due to too much downforce on the nose...if it was from poor surface, then what about all the other cars that run on the flats? if you watch the vid in slow mo, you can see the nose dig.

i drove my fd to 160 and the car felt very stable. im sure some R compound tires, a rear diffuser, a wing, and some front canards and you should be ok. i'm not saying do it but it would decrease the risk. i'm assumeing he had the GTC front when he did this which should by mazda design added down force to the front.
|
yes i had that ans mazda speed sides and c west rear
|
i did 160 n/p only thing that scared me was if i got caught.... yea u'll probably die if u crash but no point of driving a 'fast car' slow.
Nice vid, and even sexier FD |
I didn't realize how much more gear the FD has. We had my buddy's CYM TII to a calculated 173. 9000rpm in 5th gear, speedo already wrapped around....lots o fun!
He had a ported motor, 3"dp and exhaust, hks bov, stock tmic, fpr, external wastegate, and a full suspension |
