Streetported S4 Na vs 2006 Ford Explorer and 98+ Eclipse

Today this guy decided to run with me on the local main route/highway, he was with his wife/gf and i was with my gf as well.

It started when we come off a side road with him behind me, I take a right onto the main road and he starts trying to pull by me so I take it from 5th to 4th gear and start pulling no problem, but its so dead even before I start pulling that I cant pass because theres a truck in my lane. So I come nearly feet from hitting the truck and hit the brakes and go behind the explorer and then he jacks on the brakes as well ( I think he knew I was about to pass if the truck wasnt there).

So we get side by side again and he starts first ( because of course if i started first it would of been no contest), this time instead of downshifting to 4th i downshift to 3rd and hit 7500rpms , I'm gone and throw on my hazards indication of winning.

He then tries me again, and this time i jump on it quicker than he anticipates and i get ahead so quick that he quits trying because surely my 1.3 Litre rotary whooped on the new V8 in the explorer.

For my mods I have streetported engine, intake, full exhaust (no cat), lightweight flywheel, upgraded clutch and a few other things.

The other race I had was on the highway, I raced some guy with a 98+ Eclipse who knows what mods he had, but it wasnt very fast. We raced about 3 times or more, and again I pulled away every time except for the one time where there was a car blocking my lane.

His car was about as much competition as the explorer, both lousy competition because seemed once they realized how much faster my car was they gave up on trying to keep up and I let them catch back up to try again, and lose again.

I hope to have some videos of my car soon so you can see how it sounds, I do know its running very rich because the inside of the exhaust tips are black so I know I can bring out at least another 5-10 hp at the wheels with a good dyno tune.

Right now Im guessing I have 190+ hp at the flywheel, 160+ whp.

I dont know if the explorer was a v8 or v6 (v6 4.0 210 hp, v8 4.6 292 hp), and i also dont know if the eclipse was the v6 or 4 cyl, (v6 3.0 210hp, 4cyl 154 hp).

Even if they were both the lower hp engines , my car still pulled well, but its obvious I could use a good dyno tune to bring my hp up to its true potential.

Wow do you ever come off as a immature 14 year old there.... Childish acts like these do not deserve glorification.

"Ooh look, I whooped a soccer mom in her minivan, and I only killed three of her kids"

Save this **** for the track, and don't ****** encourage SUV's, the things are dangerous enough as it is, making them race is not gonna improve the situation.

Grow up a little. When someone makes an ******* pass, or flies by you, let 'em go, besides, you know with an Rx-7 you can always catch them in the twisties.

It was all in fun and for the record the road I was on has no twisties its basically a highway, so I am 99% sure the suv can handle the road , oh and there were no kids in the suv either.

How I see it is Im just improving my driving skills no matter who I'm racing, even if it was a cheesy ford escort.

I dont mind the occasional race, but try and refrain from being a retard on the public road ways (yes hipocritical of me, i do 100+ almost as a common occurence some months)

But i do it at night when i get out of school, and im the only one on the road.

Just be safe out there regardless of what youre doing.

i find it funny how nobody has said one thing about this because he is driving a 7. but if someone driving a civic came on here telling a story about how they beat a 7 and threw their hazards on they would be flamed to hell......

if a civic beat a 7 i would be glad to say nice one unless it sounded like total crap. I've seen some fast civics and CRXs before.

I tried to race with a civic that had turbo on it , Id say a 98+ Civic but i gave up when we were going about 100mph because he was riding on my *** the whole time so I had to let off the gas around a sharp the turn alittle bit (didnt want to go any faster since not too use to the car yet), and all I could hear was his blowoff valve after he switched gears going by me. I could easily tell his car had way more pull.

Now if I had a turbo on my car running even only 6psi and some better tires/suspension it would have been a different story, or if my car was actually dyno-tuned right now even with its setup.

Ford Exploder?

Can you really call it a kill when the occupants of the other vehicle are already dead?

You are a noob who BRAGGED about "racing" an Explorer, ergo you have lost ALL credibility in my book and have no room to claim this as "your" thread. In all reality, I'm not a very popular member here, but I ASSURE you that I'M not the one making myself look like an ***. And why would I want to leave? I like cutting down noobs (not all noobs, just the ones that fall into the same category as yourself).

PS- I'm not sure about Georgia, but here it's illegal to date one's own mom.

an explorer? why? Why race it and waste the gas.. im not cutting you down... like others but Im just wondering why>? Rsiking your car, and life so you can type on a fourm that I beat a explorer in my 7? No point. The eclipse... probally had a ebay exhaust, and k&n intake... like all others...

so the eclipse.. ok... both sports cars, but the explorer?.... that was pointless, and foolish.

Race real cars, and come back.... then you might get props... but not with this crap!

later,

I live in the country section of Georgia, not many people around here have fixed up cars that I could race.

I do plan on making a video of me racing one of my friends who has a basically stock rx7 just to see how much mine pulls in comparison. He actually drifts his rx7 (88 na), and hes going to teach me the fundamentals of drifting.

I hope this helps instill the values to all rx7 owners since you seem to know everything since you arent a noob like you assume I am.

Ive owned my car for over 2 years now and done all the work to it myself, including installing a full main wiring harness and the engine.

So I consider myself pretty intelligent for a NOOB

Ah, come on. Did I ever claim to know "everything?" When did I say that? Seriously. Way to take something I said out of context. GOOD JOB!

I'm actually quite impressed by the fact that you've owned/worked on your car for 2 years. It is an admirable trait that you are building it. I mean, seriously! Considering all these mAd TyTe SuV rAcEz and whatnot, I'm surprised you haven't totaled said auto and taken some innocent lives in the process. All we can hope is that it doesn't happen when you learn... the fundamentals... OF DRIFTING!!!! Gasp!!!!!

Now, I can honestly say that I've owned my CURRENT FC longer than you (going on 4 years the 22nd of this month) let ALONE my S4 I had when I was 15 (which was stolen, by the way). Does that really matter? Nah. But considering you feel the need to turn this into some sort of e-weiner competition, I figure I might as well bring what I have to the table.

I'm a good driver and I know my limits, quit trying to be a ball buster because we all know we have fun driving our 7's whether it be racing or just cruising. I have nothing against you or anyone on this forum nor do I have any reason to cause someone any unhappiness, this is just childish to fight over meaningless things.

All true Rx7Club members love their Rx7 no matter what, noob or veteran. Lets just quit this stupid stuff and talk as adults.

Ive actually always been intrigued by the rotary engine, thats why I bought an rx7. Not because I want to have a fast car that can beat suvs in a stupid race or because even that I want to learn to drift, but because Rotary engines are a breed that no other car can live up to and no other engine or car producer can compare to or even have the ***** to produce something close to.

So lets just quit acting like kids and just cut this out because I have no reason to fight , and you shouldnt either.

Knowledge is for the people and which is why this site is here, but you shouldnt try putting those down just because you feel more knowledgable in a certain area, knowledge is mean to be free and without the knowledge that was given to Mazda to produce a rotary engine , we wouldnt be driving the 7's we have now.
