stock twins fd vs. pullied 03 cobra...vid.

my non seq stock twins rx-7 which i just picked up that i had planned to be my future road course car. anyway wanted to test it out. i had dropped in my own map in the car at 14psi. ran 4 cars that night here is the list

05 evo stock pulled 4 + cars on it trapped 105mph
99 cobra bolt ons pulled 4 + cars it traps 108mph

so i stepped it up from here and go into some faster cars. i expected the rx7 to be a 110mph car since it was still fairly rich on tune

95 s10 with a turbo ls1 pulled just about a half car on it. he runs 118 mph.

Lastly came up the 03 cobra which was full bolt on and pullied. i had to run a passenger in my car since it was a 117mph car. was my closest race of the night. the first race is not on vid it was a 60-120 run where the cobra stayed ahead by just under a half car then a turn came up and we let off. i was slightly out of my powerband so i wanted to up the speed to 70. which we did on the 2nd run but he missed 4th gear. the last run was the best run for both of us since a lower roll was in his favor and we decided to run to 150mph. i wound up pulling away by 1 car by the end of the run. i would like to run him next time without a pass in my car since that makes a huge difference. i would expect to put a couple cars on him. overall i was impressed since its a stock twins car at 14psi running with 118mph cars.

here is the vid.

Good kill & post. That "heatsoak" excuse by the V8 guys on U-Tube is weak so I told them in the comments section. Even if it were true, that would be his car's weakness. I can see it now, "Wait, ...we can only run ONCE since my car will get heastsoaked in 30 degree air"....complete & utter BS (both your IC & his blower had plenty of time to cool between runs with freezing air outside being rammed into your intakes @ highway speeds when they were not being spooled at full boost). Again, good clean kill ;o)

^ very true. not to mention my good friend owns an 03 cobra and he would do continuous runs. only after the 5th or 6th run in summer heat would you notice the car slow down and it was only a car length slower. the guy posting on there was a friend of the cobra i raced and guess what he owns...... a 700whp cobra, which he will not run me on the highway with my new setup on my fd. he knows i will pull on him up top and he doesnt want to see that.

i guess they just get upset when they get killed by a 1.3 liter ahhahaa

hey, what are your mods with the stock turbos? I plan on upgrading to an fd soon and i want to keep the stock twins, now that ive seen stock twins whoop on some cobras im def gonna keep em.

Holy **** man, very nice. FWIW, my car is non-seq at 13 or so psi traps 110-112. I'm not the best driver however What do you have planned for this car? You still keeping the red single turbo one? Any more details on the mods on the non-seq FD? Sounds like you didn't even have an aftermarket IC?

this was going to be my road course car but i am thinking of selling the shell since it is in very good condition inside and i dont want to tear it apart. but the car does have a greddy fmic which helps. the motor is ported by judge ito. i am also trying to pick up some of his templets for my motor in my single rx. the car runs extremely strong for being stock twins

Were you brake boosting? It didn't really sound like it. If that's the case, that you weren't, I'm even more impressed

to be honest i did not brake boost on the last run. it was in 2nd gear and it was too cold i would have smoked through the tires. i did get a slight brake boost on the first 70 roll run. maybe 5-8psi.

terminators are fun and torquey (i've driven one with intake and exhaust), but they are pitifully slow considering how much power they can make

^^ Completely agree. I have never seen cars make so much power and be so slow compared to what they put down.

Congrats on your wins! That is a pretty mean sounding cobra.

When I was on the twins boosting 12psi Some douche in a 03 cobra (stock I assume other than exhaust) wanted to race. I finally bit, let him get the jump and pulled about a car and a half from a 40mph roll. I LOVE seeing looks on those mustang punks faces every time. Priceless...
