My car was running like **** ever since I got back to Texas a few days ago. I had it tuned on the east coast the week before, and it was running great. Dunno if its the gas here, or altitude difference, but it would just detonate whenever I got on it. I spent some time messing with the predator, and was able to tune out the knocking. It took taking out 20% timing up top, which I calculate to be about 6 degrees from the 26 I had initially. I also took out some in the mid range and added a bit of fuel. I feel like I lost 20 hp, but I would rather give up some and be safe. With the knocking gone and the a/f ratio real rich in the mid 10's, I decided to meet up with some friends and to go to some car meet. Ended up being the typical standing around in a parking lot in the freezing cold. Quickly getting bored of that crap, we went on the highway to mess around. First up was my buddy's Evo. He has computer, intake, full exhaust, boost controler, intercooler, etc. He insisted we go from a 20 punch, thinking he would have the advantage. We line up and go on the 3rd honk. I was in 2nd and feathered the throttle, fighting for traction. Instantly I jumped a car ahead and continued to pull till I backed off. At that time I had about 3 cars on him. I motioned to go gain but he gave me the finger through his sunroof and sped off. Guess he had enough. Next up was another buddies rx-7. He has a ported motor, upgraded turbos, intake, full exhaust, front mount intercooler, computer running about 15 lbs boost. He went before I honked, but I reacted quick and didn't let him get more than 1/2 a car. I surged ahead of him, and he hung behind me me as I slowly pulled till about 130 or so when we backed off. Was a good race. After this I wanted a run at another rx-7 that had a 3 rotor engine conversion with a huge turbo, but he was having "issues". We went back to his shop (Gotham Racing) so he could drop off his car and chatted for a while, mostly talking how close the race was between me and the rx-7. A bit later we watched a movie, and then I decided to head home. On the way I saw a bunch of cars and people hanging out in a parking lot by Starbucks. I decided to drive by and see what was going on. There were two 03-04 cobras; a white hardtop and a black vert. There was also a dark silver camaro, and a bunch of hondas and other gay crap. The guy in the white cobra asked if I wanted to mess around, so I agreed. Apparently he was all stock. As we drove out a bunch of people followed. I hate whent hat happens because it attracts too much attention. The camaro came as well and tried to line up with me, but I didn't want to go because I had just seen a cop pull out of a gas station across the street. I followed him to some stretch of road, but just as we were about to go my V1 went off and I remembered the cop who was probably now behind us somewhere. I pulled over into a parking lot, and told him to follow me to another place. We got another highway and went a few times. The stock cobra jumped on me the first time, but naturally it was no match for my mods. I pulled till I backed off somewhere in the middle of 5th. We went a couple more times. On the last run we started in 2nd and I got a bit sideways till the tires hooked and I pulled ahead. We then headed back to Starbucks. He introduced himself and I thanked him for the run. I'm guessing he'll start modding soon. I decided I was tired and it was time to go home, but I asked the camaro if he wanted to run me on my way home. He agreed and followed. The first time me, the other white cobra, and the camaro lined up 3 across, but just as we were about to go my v1 went nuts and I saw a cop hiding on the other side of the road. After he was out of site we tried again. I didn't hear and honking and they both jumped on me. I said screw it and waited for them to slow down. Next time I went against the camaro. It was very loud and sounded mean. I could see dual exahaust dumps underneath the car. I went from a 2nd gear roll and immediately jumped ahead. Near the top of third he pulled slightly ahead and stayed there untill I was in 4th and we backed off. Sounded like he was spraying. We went again but this time I missed third. I wanted to go again, but he declined. Maybe his bottle ran out? The next exit was mine so they followed to make their u-turn. I pulled along side the camaro and told him good race, how much you sprayin? He said 100 shot, which seamed about right as we were pretty close. I decided I had enough and went home to drink some beers and pass out.

 

So when are you gonna show up and autocross that thing?

 

Never been much of a fan of autocross. The short run times don't really apeal to me. I'm gonna set the car up for road racing in the future, though I want to do drag and street driving too.

 

Only one problem with that: road racing costs an absurd amount of money.

I'm originally from NJ, but I live in TX now. I got alot of friends and family in NJ so I go visit often.

It's interesting that you pulled harder on alan, who was running more boost with a similar setup, than you did on me even after detuning your car. Once I get tuned I am coming down to Texas for a piece of you Huk

Good kills, btw. Terry's EVO is pretty fast, I was in the car with him when he smoked at least a dozen crustangs over the months, and I crushed a WS6 will driving it, so it def isn't slow.

Yup, but he runs like 21-22 psi. I've driven the car numerous times.

Maybe the second time when you cheated and got the jump. the first time it was clean, and there is no way i was in your rearview. i have 2 witnesses . hell, as soon as i got into my powerband in 4th gear (125ish mph) you let off and i flew by you. Maybe your car isnt as fast as you think it is. Now that you are tuned properly and lost that 20 rwhp that you never should have had, i think I'll be looking at you in my rearview mirror

I spun all the way through 3rd gear so he got some distance on me but once I hooked I passed him.
