Philly Street Races...

well it was friday, didn't really have **** to do, so I thought I would take the FD out to philly and see what was going down, just to watch though not to race, well race where all the cars were gathered that is.

So we are just riding along at normal speed , when a civic hatchback comes up from behind , with exhaust and what not, and we hit a red light, he revved his lil 120 HP engine up a lil bit, I just sat there like a good boy didn't revv or anything, so he launches it, exhaust blaring, I just took off normally, and then gave it WOT he was already in 2nd and I was in 1st, and I pulled past him, like his car was at a stand still, anyways we stopped at the next light he gave me the thumbs up which was cool, we talked a lil bit , asked him if he had a B16 in it, he said don't even worry about whats in this piece of **** LOL he was cool though. Not a win to brag about or nothing but racing is always fun especially with cool people.

Next victim.

So we were just cruising around again looking for the concentration of cars on the side streets which we found none, im stopped at a red light on a two lane road, and this integra, pulls in the right hand turn lane next to me, I guess he though he was gonna gun it and switch into my lane (i hate when people do that) so he took off, then I gunned it and once again pulled ahead, then he was on my tail revving the hell out of his engine (for some reason honda owners simply love to use the redline limiter all the time) and I heard a blow off valve, I was like hmmmm maybe some decent competition, so I make the next right he follows, we hit a red he revs I rev then we are off, I start to pull on him in 1st then once I hit second he was 3 cars behind, so at the next light, we talked a bit, it turns out it was an LS with a turbo @ 7 PSI, he was cool, But I think a GSR would have been alot better match.

Oh and on a side note some guy in an f150 who obviously knew FD's asked me is that a 4 or a 6 then laughed and said just kidding that was pretty funny.

All in all a good time, didn't see the koreans with hatchbacks that race EVO 8's for pink slips that the guy in the hatchback was telling me about but still a fun time.

People in Philly are mad cool. When I went there all kids gave compliments and weren't standoffish like NJ/NY and joked about their own cars.

Damn, I would have gone friday if I wasn't on that cruise. I ended up going saturday night when I got back. It was my first time out in philly for the races, and it was fun as hell. Its pretty sad how easy it is to not get caught by cops there, it doesn't seem like they even want to hand out tickets, but just break it up, but its funny when everyone runs at once. First I raced a B16 hatchback civic who said he runs a 14 flat 1/4 mile and I lost by like 1 car length, which I can deal with since the guy who started us went fast as hell and i'm used to really long getting ready to go races and he just sort of like pointed at me then waved us to go. I have it on video and I get like a second later start than him. Then we went around and I demolished two civics and a celica. I was lined up with an rx8 and like 2 races were lined up before us, and we almost raced but the cops showed up at just the wrong time. I'll be back there in like 3 weeks once i'm modded then i'll kick more *** there.

I meant a Turbo'd GSR would have been better competition then the Turbo'd LS

Was there no organized racing going on? Or you just couldn't find where it was at? Theres like 3 main streets they do it on, and everyone seems to meet back up at that gas station before finding another place, or just racing at the gas station. Once i'm modded a bunch of us should head over there.

When I went there last night we went in 3 cars, mine, a prelude, and an integra, the integra guy and the passengers in the prelude all knew where they were going, and I pretty much followed them, but once the cops came and everyone jetted, all we had to do was pretty much follow the trail of riced out cars and it got us back to the races, heh

I got an answer for that. Alot (if not all) Honda Civics (92-95) did NOT have tachometers. Thats usually why you think you see a ricer with a big tach when you think he don't need it and he probably does. Not DEFENDING ricers by any means, just the ones that deserve defending.

I think he means the guys who just like to keep flooring it in nuetral and letting it bounce up and down on the rev limiter. All the honda guys there do it for some reason.

Yeah but they do that in integra's all the time too , and if you know your car pretty well, you'll know at what MPH you need to shift at, but the engine sound, may not be right on the money, but come on its a civic , my 89' accord has a tach in dash, I don't know why civics came without one
