Wink FD vs Z06

jimlab- I love it! (watching from the sidelines, that is)Guess actually owning both vehicles being discussed does not matter does it? Hope your life's project car is progressing.

Ron, do you think that ported turbos give much additional hp?

Good race 1 fast, get that car to the track and get some numbers for the non believers.

For the record I've seen the older Z06's run 12.3's to 12.4's bone stock with a pretty good driver at 113-114 mph. May have been on dr's, not sure about what tires they were running.

Bigreddawg- Don't know about extra HP. Have not had a chance to dyno since they were installed, but they seem to spool faster. Main advantage will probably be reliability, since the ceramic coating and streamlining of the exhaust path will help prevent the cracking which happens with the stock twin turbo setup. My old one had the bridge piece between the front and back completely cracked across.

Jimlab, Car will run at the track sunday!

Here's a little challenge for you since you obviously don't know how fast TII's can go (from your sarcasm). Get out to the track and post a pic of your timeslip from your Z06 cause I finished my car this weekend and I'm running it in the Import Face Off on Sunday. I'm still waiting on your timeslip from your Z06.

Patrick, the only thing that would compel me to go to the track just to see if my $55,000.00 daily driver is quicker than your "$3,000.00 REX" is if I cared. I would have thought that my response of "OK" would have made it abundantly clear that I don't.

Good luck with your Import Face Off, let us know how you do.

I call BS on anyone claiming to beat manufactures specs with a profesonal driver in ideal conditions with steet tires/stock....is it not 12.4 @117 the claim.

With those mods on the T2 12.4+117 are very realistic. I did a 12.7@112 with a smaller turbo.

put some slicks on that zo6+mods....not much can touch it except a 20b

You can do that with a T56, and the stock tires are pretty damn good. Average RWHP for an '02-'04 Z06 is about 355, bone stock. However, as with any car, some are a little stronger than others, and DA (density/altitude) makes a big difference with a naturally aspirated car. It's certainly rare, but definitely possible.

A bone-stock Z06 on stock tires has gone into the 11s. http://www.z06vette.com/forums/showt...ight=z06+stock

A bone-stock Z06 with better tires has gone as low as 11.6, I believe. I don't feel like searching any more for that thread.

I think someone should put Jimlab back in the GM cage. He obvioulsy just likes to come in here and rattle everybody. He is always going on and on about his V8s and the such. He always likes to compare the latest in technology V8s agains 15+ yr old rotarys. Plus he never like to touch to much on 20Bs or 4 rotors. It always the 13bs. Maybe we should compare a 4 rotor to one of GMs Tech 4s from the mid to late 80s. Maybe that would be fair. Anyway I believe TII has a fast car and I dont believe all the claims of 11 second stock corvettes unless your talking the new one with the 427, either way anyone can get more HP simply by adding cubes. I am sure this will turn into another flame war and that is exactly why they need to keep V8 talk in the other engines sub forum. The V8 crowd always leaks out and starts flaming the other forums. For the most part us rotor heads dont care if we win or lose vs the V8s and $50k+ cars we just like to at least give em a good run and when we beat em thats just all the better. Anytime I beat a V8 car especially the expensive ones which are a lot newer I feel a sense of accomplishment, I do not understand why people have to hate on a guy with a TII who beats a Z06 on a RX7 forum. Should we all not be glad to hear of the TII whooping a Z06..? This is a true underdog story. I am all for any RX7/Rotary owner who builds his car up and goes and takes on the expensive cars. Plus I hate GM .

A stock 04 Z06 running 11s..? I still dont buy it. The best I have personally seen one run was 12.6 and I just dont see that very often mostly what I have seen form stock ones is high 12 and very low 13s. I know there is a lot of factors and I know it would not take much for a 04 Z06 to get in the 11s but I do not believe with stock tires and completly stock it could do 11s. As far as time slips I could get a 9 second time slip from the track and post it as mine. There is a local guy running mid 9s with his Supra. I could easily take that slip and post it and say it was mine. Time slips mean nothing, video helps but then still I really need proof that the car is indeed stock to. If it is true so be it I cannot prove it is not, I just dont personally believe it.

Nobody really cares what you decide to believe, they do run 11's with the correct conditions and it has been done which is a fact. Did you read the posts ? Did you read the witnesses? You obviously didn't nor do you care to know the truth.
