My FD killed by a Civic
Interesting death tonight.
I was coming back with one of my girl friends and I hear this civic revving his engine and I was like, this guy wants to race, you have got to be kidding me. His car was all different colors and everything. He kept revving his engine and we come to a light and I was just like, I'll do a run.
Green light and I pull off just like I would regularly just driving in 1st gear and then I do a quick blip of the gas and I start to hear him going and I finally floor first. Don't get any traction and by the time I shift into second he is a fender ahead of me. Flooring second and I shift into third and he is almost a car and half ahead of me and I'm thinking to myself, wtf. I let off the gas because the roads were pretty bumpy and he keeps going and I hear his BOV.
"This bitch" I said to myself lol. I pull up next to him at the next light and I ask him if he's turbo'd and he said yea. Told me he had a custom single cam turbo. Then he sped off. This Civic was fast, all interior was pulled and just straight exhaust, I was impressed.
I have all bolt ons minus a midpipe. 12psi untuned on original turbos.

you would be surprised on how much of a difference you would feel from a midpipe and having a cat... But all you need bro is a good tune... I prolly would've gave the civic props as well, but i still dont think it's worth putting money into those cars... Just up the boost a bit, get a good tune, and put those civics back in their place...

Yea I have my midpipe on usually but I had to take it off because of my smog and I haven't had time to put it back on.
Still it was a quick car and definitely a sleeper. Never would have expected it.
Embarrassing too because the girl was in the car

Ofcourse. From 12-14 psi you will also feel a crazy difference in power

Well at least you can say the FD is more reliable than his turbo'd D-series.
He'd have to be boosting AT LEAST 10 psi to come close to you. And with that much boost it'll blow withing 5-10k miles easy. Unfortunetly it only costs 200-300 bucks for a new d-series engine...
And like a couple of people said, get that thing tuned. It's a huge difference. Even just a pettit or M2 ecu would optimize the mods you've done. You'll be amazed at the power difference at the same boost level (12psi).

what's all this?
good death man. There is nothing wrong with losing to a well modded car. No matter what brand.
Remember losing is what makes winning fun.

Each time i've losed, the other car deserved the win.

Nice death....a fast car is a fast car, even when it's a Civic.
Although I'm still glad I've only lost to modded LS-1s and a Ferrari Testarossa (when close to stock....haven't raced much of anything for the last few years).

and things like this "there used to be a guy in Wichita that had a POS '76 Pinto with a alcohol burning blown 426 that cruised Douglas street looking for victims. Dude actually drove from the rear seat. That....car....was unbeatable. But what was the point?"

you win some you lose some, it's like one guy said here it doesn't matter what car it is, it can be a suzuki or a m3, but with time and money any car can run fast. people think because their hondas they're not gonna run(mostly because ricers had put the honda name reputation low as shi*) but there are actually some fast hondas out there that would smoke much of us easily.

Is it that there IS a need for an excuse. Any car can be made fast with money? ****... please. The price it cost this civic to beat any FD is fractional compared to built FD's. Single overhead turbos are about as basic as you can get when it comes to tuning a civic or Integra and the gains are marginal compared to what other setups are out there. The potential is amzaing if you haven't noticed. A econobox that can run drag times right up there next to the rotary, can't believe it or don't want to? Well, it's happening.

throwing a turbo on anything can get good drag times. just depends on how long before the motor blows. Turbos are a dime a dozen, thing is that the cheap ones dont last.
And secondly, the reason hondas are so cheap to mod out is because the market is flooding with kits for them. Im sure the FD guys can all use the cheap *** XSpower turbo kit and easily have superior gains to what a honda would get from a turbo, (peripheral ports).
