Talking My 91 N/A vs. turbocharged Carrera

So, I was on my way home earlier tonight from working on a forum member's RX7 (which is an entirely different story all in itself!!), when I pulled up to a traffic light and saw a newer Porsche (Carrera?--It was hard to read). I immediately knew it wasn't close to stock because of how raspy it sounded. I could see a race exhaust, huge fuel pump underneath, and other miscellaneous different **** like wide-*** tires, roll cage, red recaro racing seats (I guess), etc. SO, the light turns green and I kinda stayed back a little while he hurried off (He wasn't flooring it, just at a hurried pace. By the time he's about 75 or so ft. away from me, I decide to give it a shot and I nail it from 1st through 2nd. By the time my rpms were up around 8000, I end up passing him like nothing (my top-end on this engine is incredible!!). Suddenly, as I'm passing him, he punches it and I could hear his turbo spooling up and his exhaust was roaring (damn his car was loud!!). I pulled till 9000, then kept it punched in 3rd as I was coming around this bend in the highway that went through town. He was slowly pulling up on me, and then gets next to me. At this point were cruising around 90, and I believe we were both cruising for a few seconds in 4th gear. Then he downshifts and takes off, so I follow suit. Again, he's ahead of me and I'm starting to gain on him. By this point, I'm closing up on him as I'm approaching redline. Then it came time to shift into 4th, and he slowly pulled away. By the time we got to the next light, I rolled down my window and said, "damn, you're fast!!" In reply, he said, "I love those cars!! They've got unlimited rpm's!!).
Now, I don't know how many pounds of boost he was running, but my car ain't no slouch up top in the powerband. It feels like boost is kicking in after 6750 rpms!! It definitely put a smile on my face, even though I lost. I tend to forget just how potent the rotary really is!!

I with I knew the code for the BS flag. A newish modded Carrera versus a '91 N/A is a no contest brutal rape (in favor of the Porsche if you didn't realize).

While your mods are impressive for an N/A, there's no way in hell you are going to pull on a forced induction newish Porsche.

"Then he downshifts and takes off, so I follow suit. Again, he's ahead of me and I'm starting to gain on him. By this point, I'm closing up on him as I'm approaching redline."

You might be trapping 90 mph in the 1/4 and your story is that you stayed close to a modified turbo Porsche, of which a stock 911TT traps ~115 mph in the 1/4?

Time to switch to diet crack, man.

Is the state you live in emission regulated? I going to assume that it is. That being the case you would have never "heard" the turbo spooling on that car. The only way you can hear it would be if the cats where removed. Thus making the car you raced a n/a carrera which still would have kicked your *** much worse than you discribe. SOoo... congradulations on getting beat by a hard top boxster.

PA definitely requires emissions testing. Though, there is nothing to stop the guy from being catless 364 days of the year. Considering it's a newer Carrera, I find that hard to believe.

IndyKid, don't confuse the upcoming Cayman (hardtop Boxster) with an N/A rear-engined 911.

So why call a Carrera a hardtop Boxster? That doesn't sound like the voice of a Porsche enthusiast.

Since you don't seem to be getting it.....Indykid stated that an n/a Carrera would have tooled him. Therefore, the only Porsche it could be was a Boxster. They make removable hard tops for Boxsters.....

I'm usually not this nitpicky or argumentative, but I'm only going by what IndyKid said, "Thus making the car you raced a n/a carrera which still would have kicked your *** much worse than you discribe." Maybe I'm interpreting what he meant to say incorrectly, but who cares? The point is that the entire story is either complete BS, the Porsche driver cannot drive worth ****, or something is horribly wrong with the Porsche mechanically.

That, or the guy in the Porsche was just toying with him. I do that to guys driving honda ricers with over the top body kits.

Lame story. I don't think the threas starter has any real idea of speed or boost.

I see your BS call, and raise you a flag.

Most really well modded N/A's can barely break into the 13's. If it were a boxster he could be hanging with him.

OK, now that some of the people who replied have gotten the "******* out of them" (People on this forum can be real ****** dicks who just like to pick on others), I would like to say/ correct a few things.
I thought back to that night and I believe that it was not turbocharged--I DID hear a very strong intake sound (exactly like a turbo, which is why I was led to believe it was turbocharged), but the next day, I realized that I never heard any type of blow off. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, who knows. Yes I did hang with him. NO, I did NOT beat him by any means. Like I said in my original post, I mentioned that it was a Carrera(??) Notice the question marks. What I meant by newer, I meant 90's Porsche. (my mistake). It was dark outside obviously, and I thought I read Carrera on the back. Maybe it looked more like a boxster, maybe not. (I'm not a Porsche guy by any means, so it's harder for me to tell the differences, but I DO know what a Boxster looks like and this car was slightly different.) It looked kinda 90's 911-esque if that helps. This is all I have to say about this thread, and if any ******* wants to fly off the handle about some stupid bullshit or just likes to pick on people's threads, keep your ******* comments to yourself and stay the **** away!!!

You god damn back peddler.

Every person on here knows how fast an NA FC is with basic mods.

And if you raced a 911, turbo or not. none of the above stuff happend. Loose in the end or not, it would have been a complete sloughter from the begining.

I see two possibilities here. You are either a liar, or you raced something totally different than what you thought.
