Thats some f'en club there. Anyone know anybody that was in it, or have anymore info on it? Any searches I do on them, brings me to that pathetic excuse for a street racing game.
This is all I could find..

Midnight club is a very "OG" wangan crew in japan. They were around since the early 90s if not before that. They were one of the few crews that had rules and etiquette for racing on the wangan. To join, the car had to be a 180-200 mph car. They disbanded because one of their members died in a crash.
Midnight club still exists to this day, and some of their cars and OG members are still around running the wangan. When i was in japan visiting, we were with another group of cars, and we were returning back to our parking area. We saw 3 Skyline GTRs fly by us doing 200 mph at least. Later on we met up with them, turns out they were guys from Midnight Club.
We had coffee and swapped stories for a while. It is rare to see those guys, but a few still exist. They are a very old wangan street racing crew. One of the best in their days, and their name is still very famous.

I heard about the mid night club before,...really awesome the club back then, and really awesome too what some of them still do on the wangan !
I never was there, but I saw videos, and it's funny because some of you sure think they're stupid young kids racing there,... but the most drivers I saw in videos are mid-aged businnesmen
And even Ama-san shows up there !
I have to go there too when I travel to japan,...daikoku futo alone must be very exciting.
I hope someone finds some old videos of the midnight club in action....

I do not believe it was officially started again, a lot of the original MID NIGHT CLUB cars still run their colors. Some of the Mid Night club guys are cool, while others can be really stuck up. There are a few japanese magazines i have where MID NIGHT CLUB cars are featured, the drivers faces and license plates are usually blurred out.
A friend of mine in So Cal who used to have his own tuning garage in japan back when he was in his 30s used to be part of midnight club. He still has the Mid Night sticker on the back of his 1000 hp R32 GTR. A car he built from the ground up.
There is another group of guys that run the wangan too, "MISOGIS Yokohama/Group Elite". The word means 30 and over. All the guys that run are in their 30s and have a good amount of cash. Most drive Supras, GTRs or Porsches. Many are arrogant so to speak. A friend told me there was a 3 car crash, and instead of being like normal car enthusiasts, and stopping to help out, the rest of the crew just came back to daikoku futo and started laughing about the incident over some ramen.
When i visit japan, i go to the wangan/daikoku with a small group of japanese/american guys called REDLINE RACING TEAM. Sounds really cheesy, but after all the japanese came up with it. They are all really friendly, and they just go from rest area to rest area after doing runs, and we just hang out and eat snacks/bullshit and drink ice coffee. Sometimes we do donuts in the parking lots.

There was an interview with an original member of the team in the JDM Insider: Kansai Adventure Part 2. He talked about the cars that made up the original team and such. I've looked all over for info on this team but not alot of info on them in general. Here's another car I happen to find over my years of looking for them.

noooo Keiichi Tsuchiya stars in all the movies. hes the guy whos at the track and is trying to get the street racers to stop racing on the street and start racing on the track (as the movies go on they really try to get that message out to real street racers) lots of stuff in the series are based on true stories, people used to race on the shuto express back in the day and the movie was supposedly banned in japan for a while or somthing.. i cant remember the exact details but its pretty cool. one of the movies was made in 1992 when the 3rd gen first came out in japan, and the main character baught one and pwned all the competition with it !

While a few guys from the midnight club are around, few are really really fast. Most of the guys that are newer just talk a lot of crap, and rely on the name for respect more than anything else. Just slow, stuck up and arrogant.
The Kanji Up on the top of the Midnight club 3 actually says "Wangan" on it.

Took the words out of my mouth. I have researched these buggers for years. I will say that tokyo extreme racer 3 will give you ALOT of insite on how this scene really is as far as crews an such. I know the wangan like the back of my hand thanks to that game as crazy as it is.
Here is the video from TRX1, if you want more info just ask...

I have 1,3,4,5 and 6 of the Shuto Kousoku (Freeway Speedway) movies on DVD. They honestly get better later in the series (or at least the cars do), lots of FC love.

There is a new movie out called Wangan Full Throttle: Trial of Shutoko that just came out in japan. R-Magic helped in production of it, and they have R34, and R35 GT-Rs in it. It looks pretty good.

I've found that most Americans find it hard to concentrate or focus on just one hobby/interest/passion, as in we'd rather be social and have other random hobbies or find ways to be unproductive like video games, drinking, entertainment, etc. and live with having a crappy (think cubicle) job because it makes us money (which we spend on being unproductive). This is why we don't make good cars, and (probably) design them so they break in a certain amount of time and design them so they're harder to work on just to make more money in the end (because building production cars isn't our real passion, its other random ****); since we all know most Americans no matter what will buy American cars out of "pride" for their country and to put money back into it. Whereas say Japanese/foreign people will dedicate their entire life and existence to whatever they like to do, in this instance it would be cars. This is why our social system is advanced, women are treated equally (in Japan they're not), and we have some of the best entertainers in the world as far as music and movies go. To get an idea of this, just watch a car and driver episode, then an option video and compare the drivers' physical appearance, humor, etc. And when you consider the size of Japan (knowing its 50% of US population) and its accomplishments (cars, electronics, robotics, etc.) vs. ours, it gives you an idea of just how "productive" they really are.
Not to say that one country is better or worse, more like this is the way we choose to live (or is it...?) Some people would argue that having just one passion can make you miss out on other fun (unproductive) things to do, but how true is this? Suck at everything or be good at one thing and only one?
Now this is where the ignorance comes in. Because we're not used to people having just one passion that they take very seriously, there is conflict. I can say "I was racing on a deserted (public) back road last night" and it would be completely different from a typical American saying the same thing. So the reaction would be something like "OMG ARE YOU SERIOUS YOU COULD'VE KILLED SOMEONE!! WHAT IF A DOG RAN OUT BLAH BLAH" when the person has absolutely NO clue as to how much precaution I could've taken before engaging in an unlawful, risky and dangerous act. The reason for this is because it is uncommon for a "typical" American to be interested in engaging in this type of activity enough to take what seem to be tedious, costly and downright ridiculous precautions or planning because we'd rather spend that time on being unproductive (see examples above). Tokyo is one of the safest big cities in the world, and even with the HUGE street (highway or mountain) racing scene there I would laugh at the statistics of vehicle crashes per year vs. the United States'.
I don't mean to offend anyone and I hope I don't. This is my opinion on this country after living here for 7 years and a LOT of it is nothing but assumptions so feel free throw out your opinions or criticism.

Did you make an argument in there? I failed to see it.
Also, remember, assume makes an *** out of U and ME!
Don't worry about offending anyone. First of all this is the internet. Second of all, your post didn't make enough sense for anyone to be insulted. Clarify your arguments plz.
All I can say is, refrain from making assumptions about a group of people based on the opinions and actions of a select few. You'll always find 10 people that thwart your assumptions for everyone you find that fits them.
