I just got back from this car show and this neon SRT-4 got on my ***. We get goin on a 2-lane highway and his was in front of me and gunned it so i took off. Surprisingly itw as even all the way???????????? I figurued when i got into 3rd i was be sayin BYE BYE, not the case. I just looked up that neons can come with turbo upgrades from 220hp to 300hp. He said it was all stock and so is my car. Just wondering if those things are that fast or is there something up with my car, my boost gauge read 10-8-10.

 

stock they car run low 14's to high 13's if its a GREAT driver and upgrades arnt much for it. not sure what the FD runs stock. I raced my friends with bigger injectors and a aftermaket ECU in my FC and I beet him through 1st and second and he started gaining on me in 3rd and by the middle of 4th his front bumper was at about my door......I have ported motor 3"exhaust an 720 secondarys and should be running mid to low 13's. so they are quick you can make them really fast and they seem to have good top end.

 

Yeah they are quick, he started before me but i thought i would catch him, i went into 3rd and it stayed dead even, every time he switched he would jump a little them i would gain that little back. I hear stock FD's will run low to mid 14's stock.

 

yeah I bet he was stock....there still neon but the sound pretty mean to me when there racing and Iv heard they have gotten 500HP with stock internals....I know one kid here where I live is running low 12's with slicks.....he just got a bigger IC and is going for 12.5 on street tires

 

Both cars have similar #s and should be pretty even on paper with the 7 barely in front at the end(stock vs stock). I think the driver would decide the outcome. Its a very nice, cheap, FWD turbo car with a lot of factory support...

Im not a big fan of these things, but I did drive one for the first time yesterday and I have to admit it was kinda fun to drive

 

Really? I took a friends SRT-4 for a few laps around Mid-Oh. I absolutely hated it. The thing couldn't handle worth a damn. After that session, I wouldn't own one of those things if someone paid me to.

I just went down the highway and back to the dealership. First gear was just a bunch of wheel hop, second and third were fun, I never got higher than 4th. This thing has been sitting on our lot for 7 months and I finally decided that I had to know what all the "hype" was about. It wasnt anything amazing but it was ok. I wouldnt own one either

 

Yeah sorry about the srt-10, i messed up wasn't thinking right. I really dont like the sound of a RX-7 having same #'s as a NEON, i mean what the hell is that. They are damn quick though.

 

I was considering an SRT-4 before I got my FC. They have a shitload of low end and feel much nicer than a relatively stock T2, and they put 230 to the wheels from the factory (they are underrated). Of course they really don't feel anything like a 7 in the turns.

 

we were going around 120 around a couple curves, not bad curves but my car was huggin so damn good, felt awesome, he didn't seem to be handleing to bad.

 

I have a DP stock CAT and 3in exost, and put 3 cars on a stock SRT from a stop. Put 2 cars on 1 from a roll might be bad driver. Quick car in a strait line. I have a 2 friends right at 300 range on stock turbo's, not bad for a Neon.

 

theres an srt-4 kid around here. it sounds like he's got intake and open exhaust. this neon was dead even with me all 3 times we pulled. twice highway, once from a light i jumped ahead but he pretty much stayed on my tail. i shifted at 7600, dunno if thats too early or late. i think yanni ran 12.3 back before i bought my car from him.

i knew it was "the fastest car under $21k" but i didnt expect it to be that fast with boltons. looks like i'll really need a 3 rotor to put everyone else in their places.
