learn to ride a bike!

Okay, I don't like posting in here, mainly because I don't like to street race, it's dangerous. But this was kinda funny.

I was getting off the freeway and there's a stop sign at the end of the off ramp. So I'm stopped and there's a CBR 600 behind me then switches lanes to get next to me, mainly because acceleration in a bike is well... insane. I don't think anything of it, so light turns green and this guy isn't blasting past me, he's trying to find second gear. haha

So, we're at another stop light taking a left turn. Light turns green, and so I keep it in first the whole while.... than I think the guy thought I was racing him, so all of a sudden he starts mobbin' on it... mis-shifts or something, because I hear that whine from his engine being stuck in neutral and he drops back so fast it's freakin' hilarious. So I'm in third gear and he just drops back and must've felt stupid because he ends up taking the next turn.

Ohhh, by the way, I know the bike would totally kick my car's *** if it had a decent rider on it. Good times.

could have been a problem with the bike too. I know some bikes can get worn shift dogs and have a problem making the 1st to 2nd shift and hit a false or real nuetral. Not saying this was the case, just a chance it's what was going on.

That is why you pay attention to what you are doing on a bike. No wonder so many of these ineperienced riders are badly injured or even kiled on these rockets.

I learned to ride the day I bought mine. Now I look back on it, I think *forehead requesting palm*, but I did alright.

As far as missed dhifts go, mine has a sloppy tranny in it (notorious on v-twins) and hit a flase nuetral all the time, did that racing a dodge viper. Sucked becuase I would have handed him *** instead of walking on him.

That sounds weird or the guy indeed didn't know how to ride on sport bikes it is very hard not to hit 1st to 2nd gears since you cann't go in to another gear with out shifting into the previous. I have never found neutral when not at a light.

I also have a R1 and have had many viper owners think there cars are god and can beat any thing. They normally get to see what a 1000cc motorcycle is really capable of, nt to mention mine makes 189hp at the rear tire, the get smoked with the bike on the rear tire only and me giving them the one finger saluet with the clutch hand while passing them a partial throttle. I wouldn't suggest trying that though till you can shift from first to second gear effortlessly.

so what all do you have done to your bike to be putting out that much power? What kind of torque are you making?

Its a 04 R1 to start with so it was making 160hp to the tire stock. Then just add the basics: full exhaust, graves volosity stacks, dynajet power commander 3, graves race air filter, cams, yamaha extra thin head gasket, 06 R1 head with porting and polishing=189.6 Rear wheel horse power at 13,200 rpms and tourqe of 94 ft pounds at 10,200 rpms not bad for a bike that weighs 450 pounds with a full tank of fuel.

I will get the dyno chart form Hitman Motorsports here in White Bear Lake and get it loaded to a disc and post it.
They also dynoed the bike that set the highest speeding ticket ever giving in Minnesota cops claimed they cought him doing 205mph by an air plane real world speed on his near stock motorcycle 167mph.
I also have a friend, with a fully built motor and nitrous on his Hyabusa that makes 250 whp and gobs of tourqe. I will see if they will give me his as well.

Except for my mufflers and a few other things the bike looks total stock. I take it down town every now and again I like to hear the sound of the exhaust off the builds. Got to watch out for the drunk people wandering around the streets though.
fcfanatic you ride?

I rode. . I sold my built V-Max last year. I put 160hp to the wheel. I probably had a little more torque than you due to the V-four. Have you ever ran it at a drag strip?

v max's are great touring bikes, you are right it makes more tourqe. That and you got love that sound the vmax motor makes just like a pro stock drag car!
Drag racing really isnt my type of racing. I did the road course in brainerd once, but will never go back again do to poor track maintnance. Theres a great track near the quad cities in Iowa though. I have never had it at the strip but I would easily run a 9 second 1/4 mile time. I would have to go to a good track though rockfalls isn't that great have had the RX there before. my buddy with the busa runs 8's and hes not a whole lot faster than I am. But his bike is longer so he would have a easier time at the line.

I would guess you went to the happiest dyno on earth to pull 160 at the wheel bone stock on an 04 R1, but again all dynos very.

Riding a motorcycle on a road course seems a little scary for me. That is what my car is for. I don't have much seat time on rockets. I am looking to buy one this upcoming year though.
