I am the proud owner of a 1984 FB (no nest, RB full exhaust, real engine dampner, RB intake hat).

About a week ago I pull up to a light and next to me pulls up an Rx-8, the driver asks me how many HP my car has and I reply 101 (ha ha), and respond that his car is a damn shame. He asks me why and I respond with 238 HP I would have assumed that his car would have been much faster. (he didnt like that)

The light turned green and he took off, so I guess he wants to race. (at this point it is obvious that his car is an auto so his HP is only 210?) I hit the gas and about mid-way through the RPM's in second I am neck and neck. A quick shift to 3rd and I am by him.

The next traffic light comes up and he pulls up to me again. I am hoping to hear what he has to say now but his windows are closed and he wont even look at me.


Now to all the haters: I love the Rx-8 but it will never be a 7, too big, too heavy, too many doors..........

you forgot to mention the 8 was full of passengers

 

An auto 8 has 210bhp and really shitty gearing. It's believable with his mods.

I agree, though the first time this was funny, oh boy here we go again.

 

I call BS because I've raced one full of passengers (6speed though, but the passengers would make it a little slower than normal) and I took him by only 2 or 3 cars in my N/A FC, and my FC can put a stock/lightly modded FB to shame (no offense anyone).

I have been on this forum for over 2 years and have been to NYRA meets as well as 2 rotorfests. Alot of you know me and I have bought and sold to a few of you.

Last rotorfest I had some of the mods done and was able to keep up with many of the N/A FC's

I am not sure why all the "BS" callers even have to post. It was a fun night for me and I felt like sharing.

I look at the profiles of some to the constant "BS" callers and laugh at what they drive. Its one piece of **** after another.

Congrats, man! That's pretty impressive!

I lost by a few lengths to an 8 in my lightly-modded FC, and then beat him through some twisties, but the guy with the 8 is a pretty decent driver, and the car was a manual.

I believe is posible if it was an automatic but not the 6 speed.

Anyone that compares an RX8 to an RX7 is a confused person, just because the number 8 comes after 7 doesn't mean the 8 is supposed to be a better version of the RX7. Its a different type of car, I personally wouldn't mind the idea of having a fun high revving rotary in a luxurious, spacious and somewhat practical car.

But just comparing facts, the RX8 runs at least high 14s in the 1/4. Not even close to an N/A stock port FB. From what I've seen though, most RX8 owners can't drive for ****. I caught one leaving a track event (hyperfest at summit point) in the twisty roads of West VA and was disappointed in the driver, he slammed on his brakes far before every turn and barely pulled away in the straights (although he had 2 people). What made my day was seeing a Montego blue FD right on my *** as I glanced in the rear view I love the RX8s for what they are, I just wish soccermoms and typical 18 year olds stopped driving them...

 

rotorfest is coming.....i will gladly play a bit on the highway if your coming with jason's caravan....
