I Misbehaved!

I do not know if this constitutes a race or not but I chuckled all the rest of the way to the office this a.m. Here goes:

Once in awhile I'll drive the FD to work. It is usually so congested that there is not much of an opportunity to do anything but idle along in traffic. Well, I decided to drive the FD today. Came to a freeway on-ramp. It is a two-lane affair with alternating green lights for each lane to get into the single lane which makes up the final stretch onto the freeway (its actually wide enough for two cars, just marked as a single lane). As I was getting onto this on-ramp, a shiney new Mazdaspeed 6 zipped up in the lane next to me ( I am not sure if he was trying to get priority in that lane as it was shorter or what). In any event, he wanted to show his prowess and, honestly, it was a nice looking ride with the black spoke-type custom wheels he had on there (but, for all I know they could be equipped that way).

As cars cycled through the lights ahead of us, it appeared we were going to arrive at the light line together, with his light to be first between the two of us. Well, I sensed I was going to get more "prowess" shoved up my ***, so instead of watching my light, I decided to watch for his to flash green. When it did, guess what I did? No! Yes? No! You guessed it. Leaped a whole car length on him off the line. And he was right there behind me so I think I was right on the prowess thing. Couldn't really run because we caught right up to other traffic. I was going to give him props on his ride, but he looked pretty displeased when I checked in the mirror. I let him immediately go around me into the faster moving lane on the freeway, but I think he was in a sour mood after that. Not too much later, my exit came and we parted. I already know it was a wise-assed deal so save the stone throwing. All I know is I had a chuckle the rest of the trip into the office.

There just are certain times in life when you need to re-confirm the pecking order. Be safe.

MODS: Just your basic reliability mods (i.e., downpipe, cat-back, Greddy SMIC, and modified airbox), running 8 psi boost.

As I already said, I know it was a wise-assed deal. But I knew some wouldn't be able to resist. I'm sure your next street race will be completely sanctioned by the local police department.
