I got killed, TWICE!

I was driving down the freeway to take my ase tests in my turbo 2 the other night. Only mods on it are a corksport downpipe and 3inch exhaust and im only running 6psi. So a 05+ mustang gt with a exhaust rolls up and wants to race on the freeway so he dumps it and i put it into 4th and go and pulled in the beginning but i start to catch up and hung right onto his rear bumper until 120 till we had to stop for cars ahead of us.

On the way home a like 06 STI decides he wants to race me on the freeway again so the first run I completely tard out and miss 4th and just look stupid while he takes off and the second run i dropped it into 4th at 80 and we went up to 135 and he was 2-3 cars ahead of me.

i got burned twice in one night, but i dont feel too bad. i can't expect to beat sti's and brand new gt's in a stock turbo 2

Im not trying to be rude but why would you think a stockish TII could put up a fight in straight line racing with these newer much more powerful cars?

At only 6 psi of boost I'm not surprised. Time for some more mods

I heard that where you are (Ontario) overpaid4myfc, your car would be crushed if you get caught while racing...

lost twice in one night means you haven't "overpaid4myfc" yet, so keep on dumping money into it.

he walked me on stock boost lol. i think i averaged about 4.5 psi in 4th and not much more in 5th that night.

i've got my boost controller setup now though, it's nice to see my boost steady instead of starting off really high and dropping down to like 4 psi at 5500 rpm but i didn't raise it too much cause i'm still on stock injectors and i dont have an fcd. i think im just gonna get some 720's and a rtek

If you know your 4.5psi reading is accurate, then you're not really even running stock boost. Stock boost should be more like 5.5psi for S4, and 7.5psi for S5, and peak levels as defined here:

88 FSM page 4B-9: "Boost pressure 45.2kPa (6.56psi)"
89 FSM page F2-9: "Boost pressure 57.0kPa (8.25psi)"

(I rounded up. )

Not that these figures really mean much on a 20yo modified car. A big exhaust will make it go up, porting the wastegate will make it go down, a split wastegate hose will make it go up, a worn turbo or clogged cat will make it go down, etc, etc.

is the boost limit for fuel cut different from s4 to s5?

so running a stock computer and no fcd and an s5 engine with s4 ecu i have less room to work with in terms of boost creep and fuel cut then?
