Cool FD pulls a new 400 Hp GTO

I was driving home from picking up some Chinese w/the wife on the highway & some car with driving lights zips around me & pulls up next to me. I thought it was a Celica or something but upon closer inspection (it was dark) I see its a new black GTO (he's got his new tags on the back).

He decides to floor it, moves over to the next lane & waits. Oh,..... OK, WTF, my chinese can cool off a bit longer . My wife said, "cool, time for a kill" when I downshifted to 3rd to quickly chase him down.

So, we are at 80 mph & I'm in 3rd with no cars in the immediate vicinity. I had wished we were at 70 but the guy would not slow down. I decided to floor it (since he started this tirade & he's right next to me waiting for me to go). 3rd gear was useless as it lasted about .5 sec, shifted to 4th & started walking him HARD. He just gave up after I left him by 3 cars (80 to 110?). I dunno, guess he found out how quick my CYM was & he then shot over 4 lanes to exit QUICKLY?

I checked my PFC..... 16.5lbs of boost (minor boost creep - exactly why I run a liitle race gas). The guy in the GTO seemed like a cool guy & I hope he doesn't think something is wrong with his new purchase.

See ya,
-Matt

Nice one, 356rwhp in a nimble 7 should definitely be enough to take down a heavy 400bhp GTO.

I actually ran into a GTO on the freeway, on the way back after picking up exhaust for my TII. It was a weird, light blue color with dealer-tags still on it. I got next to him and he started cruising faster, not really hitting it (but still 80mhp+).

I just stayed next to him until he DID hit it. I was ready and waiting in low 4th gear. I started walking away almost instantly. We did this several times before he finally slowed down and got off the freeway.

I was suprised because it wasn't impressive at all.

I had raced a Comaro SS about an hour before (long drive, lol) and I was dead-even with that (but it could've been modd'd).

My car at the time was a ported TII with exhaust etc. (stock turbo/IC) running 12psi.

GTOs are fun kills. Funny thing both of my GTO kills have been from an 80mph roll. Walked them hard each time.

I hope you arent forgeting. These things are like VR4's; Heavy *** cars(3821 lb to be exact). So they will need more hp to equal the hp you got. and looking at these #'s from car and driver. it looks like a stock fd could take the gto since a fd could do a 13.6 in the Qmile

60 mph: 5.3
Standing 1/4-mile: 14.0 sec @ 102 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 158 mph

Your stats are for the 350 Hp version. The 400Hp LS2 GTO runs a 13.5 quarter @ 108mph = stock FD. No wonder the guy got pasted. BTW, my 356 RWHP was at 14 psi on a heat soaked motor. At 16.5 lbs & on a roll, its likely around 370+

Seems these GTO guys like running FDs from an 80 mph punch from the posts above. Odd.

And actually yes, she does have a blonde younger sister (just graduated from Med school).

See ya,
-Matt

The only way you would know the differences is that the 400hp has a hood scoop & the 350hp has a regular hood. either way you murdered him. if i tell my girl what im doing shell freak out

Don't the 400hp ones say 6.7L (or is it 6.0L?) on the back?

theyre almost 4k lbs?????? is this gonna be the american supra? lol how long before a 800 hp one shows up?
If the 400hp one is merely as fast as a stock fd i got nothing to worry about....lol

man, i got ripped off when selecting wives...mine hasnt taken a ride in the FD since the turn of the century! She was scared of it when it was stock and got freaked out when i punched it(which in turn would cause her to punch me, lol).

Is that on a stock ported motor and stock twins? I have a good street port on the stock twins. We tuned on pump gas @15 psi. I'll put in 100 to be safe and set up to 17 psi and fall to 15. I can feel that 2 psi difference believe it or not. Still w/ af's below 11..Nice #'s BTW..

Get a divorce.

I wouldn't want to marry someone who was scared of everything that I liked. It is really a mask for the fact that they really just don't like YOU.

^ Not to pry into this guy's personal life, but what you're saying would be true only in the context of a number of other warning signs. She would have to show signs of waning affection, put downs, nagging, etc. If she just has some issue over fast cars and that's it then there are way worse things that could be wrong with a woman.

Seen one at our local track last year, he couldn't break 15.0 IIRC.

Funny kill.
