Are C5s fast? Cuz I took one w/ the tank on empty (light wasn't on yet...and yes that's dumb, but I'm actually waiting for my motor to blow lol), in 4th gear, when I should have been in third. Pulled away from it pretty much as fast as I pulled away from the new SLK. Which means in third, I woulda RAPED it. I actually started BEHIND him, he got on it, I got one lane over, and straight walked him. Easy. And I had a passenger

He def. got on it, and stayed on it. It's not exactly hard to tell when someone's trying to race you. His exhaust was ROARING the whole time.

Mod list (same as my other kills): 1994 R2, body kit, CF vented hood, CF rear spoiler (for downforce), custom front undertray and RE rear diffuser, 245/35/18s front, 285/30/18s rear, on SSR GT3s, brembo x-drilled/slotted rotors, stock R2 suspension, PFS SMIC, fabbed hardpipe + greddy elbow, M2 intake & hardpipes, Pettit DP & MP, HKS CF Ti Exhaust, ACT HD S/S Clutch, PFS lightened flywheel, B&M Shortshifter (for mAdD fAsT sHiFtS yO! lol), PFC w/ aggressive PFS/Don'tBeARikki 13 psi WOT tune on stock twins, stock original engine (90K), HKS Twin Power Ignition & Efini Y-pipe, Greddy pulley, stock fuel system (injectors & pump), TB coolant bypass lol...umm I think that's about it. Not that heavily modded.

I've already taken a WRX STi modded, a 2004 Porsche 911 4S, a GSX-R, an RC51, kept up w/ a Z06, walked a 503hp '04 Cobra @ 120mph, and now took a C5. Car impresses the HELL outta me for the mods and age/wear it has

Oh and Rich, the PFC is set to 13psi w/ 96% duty cycle , but when Steve was over and I did a quick run w/ him at night, I was making 1.04 bar (15psi) @ 100% duty cycle It was in the upper 40s or lower 50s out, so yea I was probably creeping nice, making around 14psi (wasn't too long a race).

Yep, C5's are fast...but your car is just faster. Good kill, but you need some real competition.

nice kill. I totally beleive it. Auto C5s are no problem from a roll. i've only raced stock and bolt-on ones though. no Z06 yet.

LOL Yea I know man. I'm starting to feel I'm invincible...although that 503hp '04 Cobra gave me a good scare. Walked him only up top (past 120mph)

Go find a C5 Z06, or better yet the new C6 Z06. Scary fast cars, esp when driven well.

Hell, if you ever feel *too* invincible come up to NJ and I'll whoop yer booty

much love and happy holidays,

Ramy, bring her down and we'll run 'em. Ran a new CBR600RR with a good rider last night from 50-140 and pulled him by about a car. I can't wait to install the spray when I get back from vacation!

Oh, and I don't doubt you pulled a C5 especially if it was an auto. I don't know the full extent of your mod list, but if you're running 15 psi on stock twins like most making around 350 rwhp, you'd probably be making at least 30 more rwhp than the C5 and have a solid 400 lb weight advantage (even with a passenger).

C5's are fast, but obviously no match for you. With your mods, you would beat a stock Z06 (not the new one). Nice kill

Yea I won't mess w/ one of the new Z06's...it's bad for my ego I started to reel in a C5 Z06 not too long ago, and the (older) guy gave me a thumbs up

LOL...thanks Rich. I'll def. give it a shot for fun, but I'm sure you'll shut me down pretty darn quickly. You have just about 100 horses to the wheels more than me. That's insane

I'm definitely up for that! But while you install your spray, gimme a bit too (I got something up my sleeve ).

Mod list is in the 2nd post of this thread. But yea, I was just surprised, cuz I wasn't sure I was gonna pull on the C5, esp. w/ all the crazy stories I've heard about Vettes on this forum.

Thanks As I stated above, I did start to reel in a Z06 a few months back (he got a head start, I got on it, started to pull on him - slowly but surely - then he let off).

But yea, if the new C6 and Z06 are gonna be an issue, I guess it's time for more power And I'm still hurtin from the whooping I took 2 and a half years ago from a modded 911 TT lol

I think the new C6 is about the same "power wise" as the old Z06. It shouldn't give you much trouble.

A Minor correction...

2001 C5 Z06 = 385 hp
2002 - 2004 C5 Z06 = 405 hp

Dont get too cocky, modded vettes would walk you guys fairly easily. 400 whp from a cam and long tube headers isnt something you should sneer at.

That said, some auto vette driven by someone who probably hasnt done **** to it thats putting down 300ish to the wheels isnt going to be trouble for a FD putting out the same or more to the wheels thats 300 pounds ligther.

Are you serious? I think you should read this thread again... The majority of comments were people giving vette's the respect they deserve.

"Modded vettes would walk you guys fairly easily"... What a meaningless blanket statement. And on top of that you send out a "general" warning to Rx7 owners not to get "too cocky"? That's just ridiculous.

WHO'S "sneering" at a 400whp Vette?

I reviewed this thread and found NOTHING negative posted about C5's/C6's, but you still feel the need to "put us in our place" by firmly telling us not to get "too cocky" and to stop "sneering"...?

Craaaaaazzzzy.

I once even had a bit of trouble with a C3 'Vette.....so I am always a little leary of taking one on. From a roll this 350 powered 'Vette stayed in lock-step with me all the way to 120 mph, at which point I started hurting him pretty hard.

Torque my friends....those 'Vettes have it out the wazzoo. Even the most anemic one has a good 70 - 100 ft./lbs. more than a stock FD. I think it is safe to say that Corvettes in general are one of the most common foes out there, mainly because there seem to be an awful lot of Corvette drivers that sometimes think their cars are invulnerable.
'Vettes are cool....some of their owners are NOT....lol!

This could be said with just about every car, including RX-7 owners. I've met/encountered tools with all type of cars. Idiotic behavior has no boundries.

Nope, different animal. The new C6 Z06's are trapping 125-127 mph, bone stock.
