Auto FD Races

well went out and about tonight for a few races. First my car is an automatic with a shift kit(still not ****), dp, stock main cat, racing beat duals, apex'i intakes with no heat shields yet, and a streetported engine but running stock ecu and just under 10 psi.

first race was a new S2000 that didnt even have plates on it yet but had 2 mid aged guys driving it. Def eyeing my car and wanted to play. I had my gf in the car and some heavy stereo equipment in the car for the night. We were on the highway and we side by side prob going 65'ish. Were pacing each other and i pretty much knew i was going to get em so i patiently waited for them to go...i see and hear him downshift into what was probably 3rd and right when he does that i step on it and wait for the automatic "o...**** i should go now" ruetine and about a second later the car takes off. The S2000 jumped probably about a 2/3rds car length and paced evenly for a few seconds...i mean a few untill i slowly started to walk and kept walking till about 100. Had about 2 car lenghts by then when i let off cuz i figured it was a dead race and i needed to get off...not to mention it was kinda late and i def wanted to keep my odds of getting pulled over to a minimum. I then made my exit to find the next race.

the next race was a new SRT-4. Now in the past ive only raced a stock one besides BOV and exhaust and from a roll we stayed pretty much even with me just barley gaining inch by inch. Then later we went from a 5 mph roll id say coming up to a red light and when it went green i just stomped away (perfect zone for an auto FD using the hold button) and took it by 2 car lengths id say to about 60 when i shut down cuz we were now getting into a pretty high traffic area. However the one i played with tonight was a stage 2 i found out when stopped in traffic. It had a cf hood and hatch, exhuast ,ect. All we did was from about a 35 mph roll and we were pacing each other....just waiting for a downshift...i hear it and as soon as i do i punch it so about the time hes taking off my auto has gotten over its second of hesistation...we both take off and we stay even id say till top of 2nd which wasnt very long and then during the shift to 3rd he just took off bye and got about 1 1/2 car lenghts before stopping for traffic.

ah, i cant wait till i get my Power FC and do the 5sp swap.

Auto FDs are DA BOMB, I know of one that went 12.8 with bolt-ons. Mine went 13.9 @ 103 with intake and exhaust, hitting fuel cut TWICE. I have gone 155 mph in a bone stock one and have it on video. Don't bash ATs or I'll get you in my automatic 16.8 second RX8!!!
