one of my best friends has a '90 300zx, but he would take me right now, he has well over 400hp and a newly installed 100 shot. (i think he ran a 12.6 before the n20 and bigger injector/ecu upgrade)
once i get the rest of my stuff installed it should be close, i'll have to get some vid's in the spring time.

 

the cars are deffinetly nice and put down some decent HP numbers but deffinetly have a hard time getting it to the ground. you don't see to many terribly quick z's out there

Yeah, the Z32 TT is a heck of a nice car and can really put down some power. They are not necesarily known as "quick" cars put once their parallel turbos get going, they're pretty fast. To call this car a pig is downright ridiculous - they're heavy but can still be fast. I'm sure that most of the modded races between these 2, the FD will win most - but this thread is stupid

Throw intakes, downpipes, midpipes, cat-back exhausts, and ECUs on both cars, and the FD will beat the 300Z pretty easily. But on the freeway, it will be neck 'n neck all the way.

I have a 300zx...not a turbo but my friend has one....he changed the gears to a 3.93 (I think can't remember for sure) and it doesn't hop at all...he has about 550hp come out...we race the 3 Vipers here in town a lot...one of the guys who owns a viper I used to date his daughter lol so he really hated losing to the TT....my NA 2+2 is gonna be up for sale once I get it out of the shop...predator hood, wings west front bumper, stillen nose panel....it will look nice

thread is kinda useless...why diss a car? it hasn't done anything to you lol....I like the way the interior is in the 300z...like a **** pit of an airplane (student pilot atm too)...of course a bigger airplane heh cuz it wraps around you....just my .02 but I love all cars so why can't you just appreciate that you can take a $1000 junker put a couple grand in it and run decent times at the track...

yea they're pretty fast in the freeway,,,my friend's was real close to me up to about 130 but that was a year ago...i ate up his z in a dead stop however and he was modded more than i was, but those cars are classics just like the 3rd gen awesome body design

I used to have a Z32 and i really liked it. (NA 2 seater) and believe it or not, it wasnt that slow. i think they are great looking cars. i always wanted a twinturbo (infact, i had the TT front bumper) everytime i stopped, "HEY!! IS THAT A TT!?"
i always replied "no."
"WELL IT LOOKS JUST LIKE ONE"
i always replied, "yeah."

and by they way, the TT's are by no means slow. those parallel (there is one for each side of the v-6) turbos spool up and it slams you into your seat.








i think they look great.

I had a race with RX-7 1998 model Japan-spec (I leave in Cyprus and all Japanese cars here are Japan-Spec because they are imported. Right hand drive) few days ago and I have to tell you that i was really dissapointed. I thought the RX-7 could do better but the only excuse the guy told me is that he was stock but he had aftermarket wheels and exhaust.
We run twice. One rolling and one from standing still and the result was the same.

If you want to know how much he lost I cannot tell you exactly because he was a tiny little thing on my rear view. Especially the first time.

I can accept the excuse from some of you that he was indeed stock and I am stage III.
But my question to you now is this. When you beat a Z do you have any idea whether the guy is stock or not? Whether he is N/A or TT?

Hey you sound like you've lost to one.

If it will make you feel better seeing on a video an RX-7 destroying a 300ZX TT then I hope you find one.

But I am 100% sure that if you wont find a video, there are RX-7's out there that can destroy 300ZX TT

I took a 300zx TT last night ... he said he was stock before the race ... so I don't know about mods. All he said after was "Damn, you're fast!" He was cool about it too.

We raced twice from a roll around 30mph ... same result. Put several car lengths between us each time.

 

300ZX TT are awesome cars. The engines in them are one of the best V6's ever made. Insane power and some are very fast.
They are still pigs (weigh a lot) so it really hurts their performance.

The NA 300ZX is just a joke. Overpriced, underpowered, overweight ...

 

The VQ30 is a very underrated engine, overloooked by many tuners. It has potential for very high hp numbers. 300Z TT is very formidable from a rolling start. They're not exactly my cup of tea in the design and handling department...but overall they're a very nice car.

There's not too much room under the hood, so working on the car can be a PITA or so I hear. Engine can withstand a good amount of boost on the stock turbos and internals, but from what i've read, the stock turbos can't be pushed too hard.

No vid of any kill, but I'm sure there are some out there.

Im not sure if I ever raced a TT, since the majority of Z's are auto's and NA

 

Heh, I think you mean "VG30" engine.

I looked through my gigs of videos, and was surprised to find only one 300ZX versus Rx7 one, and it was a highway run that isn't very conclusive. Just shows the 300ZX in front of the camera in the Rx7, but it isn't really pulling away or anything.

I know it's happened, but whether or not there is a vid out there of it is anybody's guess.

 

oops VG30 I mean, VQ35 is 350Z

My friends at Signal Auto tell me that they are building a 350Z up and other tuners have started building up the VQ35... right now they've gotten 300-350 rwhp on smaller Greddy turbos...but are expecting up to 600rwhp cars.
