Friday night leaving the club this guy has his Viper by the front door and everyone ig drooling on it so as i drive by i get out and ask him in front of like 30 ppl if he wants to go run on the highway and he laughs and says you want to race me in that as he looks around it. then he says what is it anyway i tell him "a mazda, an 11 yr old mazda" and he laughs and says i shouldnt be proud of that statement. so i pop my hood and he sees all the polish and chrome and makes some statelment about all show no go so i tell him i would like to run him and would probably pull on him, and he says all your runnin is your damn mouth. so now things are a little hot and heavy so he says fien lets go punk as he burns out across the parking lot. so i take off with a new M3 who is going to follow (which is a friend of the guy in the viper) with 3 chicks in the car. oh by the way i had my buddy in my car with me and the guy in the viper kicked his girlfriend out, he didnt want the extra weight i guess. anyhow we get to the highway we are at around 45 MPH and no warning he just hits it, he instantly pulls about 1-2 car on me before i hit boost i'm thinking **** this guys an *** no warning and now i'm behind, so i hit third gear and i'm at his door all through third i hit and fall back to 1 car he hits 4th and i catch him door to door i pull about a car through 4th hit 5th get to about 170 and 1- 1.5 cars ahead and i shut her down i figures 170 was enough. so we go back to the club and this guy is pissed asking me ehy the hell i hit the brakes i said because its 3:00 in the morning and we are doing 170MPH on a highway in the city what are you stupid and he says lets go again i missed 3rd gear, so already long story short we go again i beat hime by the same amount of cars, and he says he missd 3rd again so we go again starting in third because he cant seem to shift into 3rd and once again i pull on him by about a car so we finally go back to the club and he wont admit that i beat him until the girls in the M3 tell him to just let it go that a 22 yr old kid in a 11 year old car beat his viper. so he gets in the car after almost fighting a coiple times and just burns out and leaves while everyone is standing around calling him a jackass for being a sore looser. the only bad part is when i got back to the club my oil seals were blown in my turbo so it was smoking like an 11 yr old piece of **** but ppl still gave respect and some ppl even noted my turbo was bad and i still beat him.

Not only that, but rev-limit won't allow it, at least I'm guessing on this one. I've seen a few vids of VERY badass FD's with stock ratio transmissions and LSD's hit about 180-190. Now, I'm not sure if they just said "thats enough speed for me today" or if the car wouldn't go no more, but I'm goin with the ladder. Yes, the gearing may allow it to do over 200mph, but I don't think it could without raising the rev-limit. I don't know.

 

No offense but I don't think you have a clue what you are talking about....if the gearing allows for 200 mph (which it does), then you can hit 200 mph without raising the "rev-limit". The stock FD gearing will hit ~200 mph at redline in 5th.

Assuming the car didn't go airborne, I'm off-the-cuff guessing it would probably take about 450 rwhp to hit 200mph.

im a huge viper fan, but if the drivers are like that then theyre no better than alot of the EVO, F-body, and Mustang muscleheads. ive noticed that those guys have the "my car is the fastest thing on four wheels" attitude.

~fyi~ abt top speed in stock setup. i did the math one night (i was really bored) and came up to 192.8 mph @8000 rpms with 16 inch rims, just to let you guys know know

p.s.- without wind... i think its right above 210mph when wingless 3rd gens go airborne

 

Most gearing calculators say an FD with, say 275/40/17 tires, a 4.1:1 rear end ratio, and an 8500rpm redline should hit 212mph at 8500rpm, and about 200mph at 8000rpm. Then again, there's tons of other factors that come into calculating top speed (temperature, tire pressure, humidity, wind, weight distribution, weight shift, rotational speed if you're on a curving road, the exact gravitational force on the car at that moment in time, etc.) that it's kinda pointless to say anything except that an FD will break 200mph gearing-wise.

Anyways, cool kill, I can't stand it when people are dicks about their cars. It doesn't pay off to be cocky, because there's always some psycho out there with a faster car. ALWAYS.
