Heading home from work a few days ago I got behind a new Acura TL that was slotted in behind a wheat truck going about 30 mph. At an intersection a newer Chevy pickup turned on behind me, so we are all waiting on traffic to clear to pass. The dude in the truck behind me was acting all antzy, weaving around and staying about 8 inches off my bumper. So finally there is no one coming and the Acura pulls out and just gets all over it, smoke pouring from his exhausts and all that. I pull out with him and moderately get on it, as the pickup is wanting to pass us all. I actually had to back off the gas to avoid running over the TL, he pulled back into the right lane once he cleared the wheat truck and kept getting after it, by this time we were about 4 car lengths ahead of the pickup. I just kept my foot down without really flooring it and easily passed him at about 120, he was cool, he stuck his hand out the window and pumped his fist and gave me a thumbs up. I pulled in front of him and was backing off the gas when the pickup comes roaring up beside me and the guy was motioning like he wanted to run....and since it was clear ahead I gave him a bit of a demonstration on how silly he was.
It's about a 4 mile run into town right there, I smoked him by taking it up to 145 and watched him just fade away and pretty much just coasted the last mile, letting the engine and turbos cool down before I got home. Decided to stop at the post office and pick up my mail, when I came out the pickup was parked next to me and the guy was out of it standing next to my car, and he was like, "I had to see what the HELL this was! I never knew Mazda made an RX-7 like this, is this new?" I told him no, it was a '93 and that they were only imported for three years. He shook his head and said, "That is SOME car!" and got back in his truck and left.
