87 T2 vs RSX-S

So I was driving down to a local bar to see a couple of friends tonight and as I'm driving minding my own business a gray RSX-S lines up right next to me on IH10. I actually thought nothing of it till he he gave me a little rev, I then noticed we had no cars in front for the next several miles so I said WTH lets do this.

First run was an 80mph roll. I dropped it in 4th he honked and I blasted away.
Second was a 70mph roll. I left in 4th he honked, we stayed bumper to bumper then out of nowhere he pulled. At this time Im thinking holy crap this might be harder than expected and now Im the one that wants more.
Third run he lowers down to 65mph honks and leaves me cars behind...on this run I should have lowred to 3rd but decided not to at the last minute.
Fourth and final run was also a 60mph roll were we both stayed bumper to bumper till almost 5th gear red line. I felt my car starting to pull on him at the end but we both decided to let go for obvious reasons.

In conclusion we were both pretty even with me having slightly more power. The reason I say that is because I know I could have driven the car better an beat him basing it on the last run were we stayed even and I started to pull (if I would have honked I would have stayed ahead).

The car had what looked like a Greddy exhaust(thats all I could see and tell).

My car has an Apexi N1 single, HKS Mushroom filter and FCD boosting exactly 6psi (DD with nothing major).

The reason I really wanted to post this is cause someone asked the other day how an FC would hold against an RSX-S. Well my car is pretty much stock and it can keep up with a lightly modded one.

a tie with an rsx-s?? is he boosted as well?? i could've swear you should've win. I put an rsx-s at least 8 car behind (about 2yrs ago) when i boost only 8psi on my tdo7 turbo. But that rsx-s prob only had intake, exhaust and wheels mod.

Lol. You're either in the wrong gear or your car has some problems.

RSXS are pretty much cake walk, even stock s2k blows them away.

I had no problem walking an RSX Type-S in third gear roll with my stock 8. Some story with him getting the start. 8's are quicker than stock TII's but I think a stock TII is just about as fast as a stock RSX Type-S.

top of 5th you say? thats north of 150mph. dont they have a speed cut?

**edit.. i guess they dont but the rsx forums say the car is too slow to need one. my guess is it had something a little extra under the hood

I have smoked several rsx-s with only an exhaust and fcd. they arent that fast but most of them have a but load of work done. I was able to keep up with my dads E46 M3 until 3rd gear also but as soon as i hit 3rd he just literally walks away.

Funny, my buddy also has a 6spd. Rx-8 with a CAI, and the 06 Rsx type S actually slightly pulls on the 8. Maybe half a car to 120mph. We all fool around all the time and results are always the same. And please dont say it was a drivers error because putting it in 3rd gear and shifting to 4th is not hard. Maybe you guys are messing with base RSX's?

My other friend has an 02 type S with cai, and reflash and he pulls quite a bit harder on the 8. Those engine respond well to mods. 250whp with cams, full exhaust, and tune is achievable n/a.

Completely forgot I had posted and then noticed all the replies.

Anyways...yeah like I had said if I would have honked myself and been in 3rd I would have probably pulled but not by much. Now you guys are making me want to find this guy, maybe he really did have something big in there.

Why boosting 6psi? Idk actually after the exhaust it started boosting that and Im fine with it because I run a bit lean in the front rotor so I dont want to push it.

Something wrong with my car? there is stuff wrong with it but nothing that would make it slower

Good to read the feedback, I was also a bit surprised till a friend of mine told me his roommate has one with just bolt ons that would have pulled several cars on me...so I guess they are not as slow as people think.

I'm 100% that it was a 02-04 RSX Type-S. The pulls were done ~60 mph. My RX8 is stock other than a slightly modified airbox (de-walled and removed 1 screen).

I beat a Type S with my B16a Civic coupe (~2400lbs) They're decent, but I wouldn't think they'd beat an RX8...
