4th gear owned Eriksseven

Ok so it wasn't his current Turbo II. That might take me, my car is heavy as hell, a true marvel of 70's engineering. It was his previous white turbo. Still a funny story though.

We were both getting on to the I-5 freeway on a two lane on ramp, slightly up hill, I had a passenger (Bryce, who I believe is on this forum too). He's right next to me, drops it a gear and floors it. I respond by flooring it in 4th (on a 4 speed) and I slowly & steadily walked him up to the end of the ramp, where we both let off. I love torque.

Just to be nice I'll also mention that he later that day owned some kid in a skyline who didn't know how to drive.

FYI I'm not here to troll it up. I actually really like RX-7s. I just came here to read about my buddy's encounter with an LT1 RX-7 and thought it would be funny to post this.

I swear I heard that thing screaming at me before I hit the gas. :P

I don't think Eric will be too upset by this, it's all in good fun.

Jager: The vette has a bunch of stuff done to it. Almost nothing on it is stock. Biggest thing is the engine is a built, bored out small block 350, 4 bolt main. You can click my sig and there's more details on my cardomain. Thanks

Ding, ding!

Yeahhh... I was just playing around, trying to hang out next to you guys--kinda like; "let's go back and forth and make goofy faces at each other".

It just so happens that you floored it and I kinda chilled out and rolled into the throttle (trying to hang out) as you slowly pulled away. As soon as I actually built a little boost, you stopped pullling and I slowed down because there was a car in front of me. If I wanted to race, I would've been in 3rd gear--not at 3k RPM's in 4th gear.

However, next time your in town, come find us and we can go to our "track". Your car better be in the 12's if you want to beat me.

Either way, I do love you.

I knew it wasn't much of a race, I posted it more for humor value. I'd have been in 2nd instead of 4th if I meant business. Darn. I guess we'll never know the truth since you blew it up.

If you're in the 12s I likely don't stand a chance. I'm probably good for low 14s, high 13s, but even that's speculation. Stupid heavy 70's car. That's if I don't have to get out and push it, given the way it's been running lately. Where's the "track"? Is that highway 104 :P ?

I definitely want to hang out and see your car.

LOL! Yeah, I do that sometimes.

Heh, I'm probably very low 13's. Tyler's setup (LT1 FC with just the aftermarket headers) is supposedly good for high-12's with traction, and I've "always" predicted that my new setup would run low-13's.

Since racing the two cars, it's pretty obvious that any difference in speed/power would sway in favor of the LT1-FC, although it's all very marginal. We raced again on Saturday and it was such a cool race. We went from about 80-125mph and we were just hanging out with each other the whole time, like we weren't even moving . Tyler got an initial half-car length due to the early onset of torque, but after that, it was like we were locked together until 125 and I had to shift into 5th gear.

(no one else will get this)

Are you familiar with the Ballinger golf-course? On the back-side of that, there's a rarely-used freeway enterance, just North of the Edmonds Way exit (205th). The on-ramp is a two-way deal that is well over a quarter-mile in length before merging onto I-5.

Word! It's not like, super cool. But if you come see it, chances are you'll be witness to three new Rx7's, as opposed to just mine.

I think I know which exit you're talking about. I'll have to let you slaughter me on it just for fun.

I was home memorial day weekend and got a ride in Tyler's RX(errr... LT)-7. He was like "yeah this is my N/A" then he popped the hood and I was like "OMGWTF LT1?!?". A tranny swap (t-56 maybe) and drag radials would do that car a world of good. That or a torque converter and a stall.

It's nice to converse with someone who can actually communicate properly. LOL!

But yeah, I totally agree. A T-56 would be my first mod, even though I'd never desecrate an Rx7 with a V-8 swap, lol.

Two random things:

1. We're thinking about going to the track soon if you're interested in going.

2. I'm going to predict that you eventually buy FC3S for the sake of an LS-1 conversion.

1. Drag strip or circuit track? In other words, do I get to go run 15s because I can't launch, then cry myself to sleep? Or do I get to throw 3600lbs of steel and fiberglass around some corners? Sounds like fun, when are you going?

2. That's not a bad idea. I just ordered a new car, so I'll have to financially recover for a while first though. Plus LS2s are coming down in price. Or I can save my money for about a decade and get a new z06.

We should see if we can get in on a circuit track day at Pacific Raceways. I'm certified to go there for open track days since I took that racing class, but I think if you can get in on a car club track day you don't need to have taken the class.

I'm down for going to some drags. I've still never done it legit. We'll see how the vette is running. If it's being a bastard I'd still go to hang out.

Don't worry, I'll let you drive the horsey. I beleive you still owe me spin in the corrado though

I just got the VIN # and the price last week. The projected build date is June 19th so I should see it late June or July. Five speed manual GT premium, Vista Blue, fully loaded minus the Shaker 1000 and the exterior appearance package. $300 over dealer invoice price, cuz I'm a crafty business and econ major. Slight improvement over the '06 I test drove that was stickered $8,000 over MSRP.

Yes, and it goes by the name of Elty Juan.

Pure chevy power shoe-horned into a 2500lb Japanese sports car. I'm not sure the 'ole budget vette can keep up with that.
