left foot braking for drifting.
just wandering about this. I was talking to Gary Lang of NMDG today at a drift day here in CO, and I was really suprised to find that when drifting, he mostly just keeps the throttle floored, and uses left foot braking to correct the line... obviously he lets of for transitions and stuff, and he said sometimes if he starts to get 'really' wide on a turn he'll let off a little, but otherwise, its just throttle floored, left foot on the brake...felt really wierd riding with him... almost an 'understeer' feeling even while giong sideways.... I tried it a little, and its quite interesting, gives a much different feel. seemed like it could be very useful at times.
this is the first time I had heard of that/seen it, just wandering if anyone else does this?

I would consider that to be an advanced technique. Its nothing that I've tried, but actually its because I've been too scared to try it. Next year for drift day I'll be sure to experiment with it and a few other things.
you use it to modify your line... reducing radius corners.. like a small throttle lift during grip driving. it will tighten your line. while drifting it helps cause it transfers weigh to the front (when understeer is induced) and continues to keep the rear loose.
it's used with turbo cars because when entering corners you sometime can't be on the gas or you'll go wide... thus leaving boost. enter left foot brake and throttle on... you still can slow for the corner and keep the power on and in boost.
for ff I prefer throttle lift... but again it's used to transfer weight to the front tires which in a ff control everything (acc, and steering).
it's very useful.
unless your old with an automatic and can't keep off the brake and gas.
