Whooooooo Hyperfest!

Was anybody else there? I saw what appeared to be a yellow FD with CF hood (it was pretty dark by then) driving around the paddock Friday night but I never saw it out on track. I was there with my red S5 TII of course, and I saw a couple other FCs and RX-8s around. There was a guy driving an S4 TII race car in PTB, I talked to him a bit but he's not a member here.

The event went well as always, but the weather didn't want to cooperate. It rained on and off all day Sat, forcing me to stay on my street tires for the first two runs. Things cleared up in time for my third run and I was able to go out on my new slicks and get a good run in. The drift finals were pretty good, but one car managed to get into the tire wall pretty good in turn 5, but not so badly that he couldn't continue. I had high hopes for the orange 2nd gen Eclipse in the rollover contest, but it managed to do an endo and stop on its roof, and was too badly damaged to continue.

After all that was the award ceremony and the daisy dukes competition, and the instant the contest wrapped up a major squall moved through the area and dumped an inch or two of rain in 10 minutes! That wasn't fun.

Sunday weather was perfect, had a good time. My new tires had gotten scrubbed in during the last session Sat and got to rest overnight, and were awesome on Sunday. Car felt great and I had tons of confidence everywhere on the track.

I also seem to have solved my spinning into the braking zone issue, I think it was a combination of too much rear brake bias and a front splitter providing some downforce with no rear wing to balance it out.

Overall the event seemed more subdued than normal, I think it was a combination of the weather and the down economy. Usually the registration fills up in days but this year there were actually some race group spots left open, and it seems like the crowd was much smaller than usual.

Unfortunately no. I have a gopro camera but things were a little hectic and I didn't get to hook it up.
