Thumbs up Who is coming to SCCA Nationals at Laguna Seca?

I was there on Sunday observing. Saw some nice EP and GT and STL/U(?) cars including this awesome sounding tube framed 'RX3' running a street ported motor and fuel injection. This team and car were from either Oregon or Washington.

I think fingerlock is campaigning something in GT3 also.

Who else is coming out to enjoy CA weather at Laguna Seca?

I plan on attending the Runoffs at Laguna this year. I will be taking the Majors route to qualify with my first race next weekend at Thunderhill. The car is classed in GT3 and has a tube frame with a fiberglass body and sports a 12A bridgeport. If there is interest I can post up pics and additional information about the car.

Cheers,

Guy

That RX-3 is Gary Bockman's: very fast driver in a very fast car. The engine is done by one of the top rotary engine builders/designer in US!

I'm curious. Who built the motor? It sounds so utterly awesome.
The car looks so "hooked up" on track. Driver seems to be able to stay on throttle more than other cars in class.

Daryl Drummond @ Drummond Engines

Let me rephrase, I know Daryl used to do the engine (and most likely still is). I haven't talked to Gary for a couple of years so not sure if he changed engine builders (which I don't know why he would!)
Yeah, Gary is a great driver. He is fast!

I was thinking it would be fun too. But don't think I can swing it. Besides Classing my car will make me a mid pack guy. Still fun, it the money's there

I'll be at the SCCA Runoffs in October at Mazda Raceway in my 1990 EP RX-7. You'll find me somewhere mid pack.

This weekend (June 7 & 8) there will be lots of rotary powered racers at Laguna. In group 3, there are 7 RX7s a RX3 and a LS powered FD. At last check there were 297 entrants for the weekend with all run groups nearing 50 cars! This should make for some great spectator viewing.
As for us drivers in mid-pack cars, it will be hectic looking forward and watching the mirrors at the same time.

Schedule for the weekend

Stop by and say hello,

Guy

Attended the race this weekend to watch and listen to some rotaries racing. Ran into Dennis Golden, Josh, Guy and a bunch of others.

Fun times. Great racing.

It'll be cool to see the runoffs switch places now! We used to go to Road America a lot as it's not a terribly far trip. I'll look for you if they still have the live streams!

That is Gary Bockman's RX-3 - very fast and well known in this part of the country.

Cool I probably won't make it out there, since I have broken toes but I'm not sure if what class my friend is racing in his name is John Olson. U May or may not Know him. He was a past champ. Anyways good luck to you and race safe.

Dennis Golden

Anyone have an email or contact number for Dennis Golden? I wanted to speak to him about rebuilding an e/p motor. He's just a couple towns over from me.. would save me a lot of headache towing down to LA every time.

Please email me: mr.massi@gmail.com

or PM here… Thanks!

My pic is the Specialty Engineering blue 1990 bodied 240 sx driven by Collin Jackson. Very fast car with an amazing attention to detail and a fast driver.

No, the frame is not from 7's only. I was told it came from Texas, and it was built up in the Bay Area by a local racer. It runs reliably now and I've been concentrating on the setup...lots more screwing around than with my FD!
