wheel and tire size

Guys I need some seriouse opinions.
Im limited to dot legal race tires in my autocross class

Let me first say im really in favor of the first option for suspension travel, rotating mass and the lower height the car will sit at.

13x8 wheels with 225/45 tires

15x9 wheels with 245/50 tires

15x8 front 15x9 or 10 rear 225/50 front 245/50 rear.

Is the larger wheel/tire size and weight and my ride hight being raised a few inches worth the tradeoff of wider rubber?

don't forget that you will also get a slightly lower effective gearing with the smaller diameter wheels, which could be a good thing.

13" wheels put gearing in the perfect spot. I rarely have to shift.

The only positive to 15's is the wider rubber available.

cmon guys, someone has the answer!!

its the wider rubber worth the trade off of the extra weight and gearing changes.

will a 245/50 tire give me a HUGE advantage over a 225/45 tire?

My FB (gsl rear end) is geared just about right with 225/50/13, it was a little to low with 215/45/13. I don't find myself needing third as often.

The answer is that it depends. It depends on weight, power, course and other things like that. Only you can tell if it's worth it for sure, and that's by testing.
