What class you do compete in?

I'm looking for suggestions from some of the road racers out there. What class are you currently running in? How is the competition? How is your RX7 set up? I've got two months to prep my R1 for my clubs first event at NHIS. I know its going to sneak up fast.

Pete

Hey Pete, how ya' doing? Sounds like you will be running with us in COM at NHIS?? It will be fun. I am #074 SPA which is a class for modified fd's and you need a minimum of a roll bar,5 point harness and racing suit. Just make sure you read the rules carefully as a intercooler or boost control will bumb you up to SPA where you will need those safty pieces to compete in the time trials assuming you get signed off to solo. I am in central mass as well. Jim

Hey Jim! I'm glad you posted. I used to drive the 617 SPB WRX. I just picked up the R1 on Saturday. My real dilema is that it seems like the RX-7 only gets simpler and more reliable the more you mod it. ie, reducing heat with a DP puts you into STGT, or a single turbo puts you into SPA.

Pete, nice looking rx7... did you keep the suburu? those all whell drive cars are very potent at NHIS.Knock on wood but my car has only seen track duty sience my rebuild. I went to KDRotary, penn. for my rebuild and stressed reliabilty over all else. big intercooler, radiator,hf cat,dp,ported oil passages etc... wanted to keep it as cool as possible... talk to you later, Jim

I still have the Subaru, but its being parted out and then sold once its back to stock. Then I'll be picking up something cheap as a daily driver. I don't think a truck and trailer are in the budget, so I need the car to take me to Mosport and Tremblant, then race and drive back. So I really need the car to be reliable!
