Want to pull the trigger on a racing harness...

I've done some searching, but I wanted to get a nod from people who are running the M2/RaceShop rollbar. For my OEM seats, it looks like the Schroth Profil II ASM is the right solution:

http://www.schrothracing.com/products/competition/1597

The ASM is an anti-sub technology that is used when you only have a 4-point belt.

I wanted to get some feedback on this choice, and know if there is anything special I need to do in terms of mounting or belt length specifications.

Thanks!

You might check with the groups you plan to drive with... I know there are some groups that won't allow 4pt harness on road courses. For AutoX, I don't think it matters all that much but this is just an FYI.

I'm running lapping days only, no competition. You're saying that they would prefer I run OEM 3-point over an anti-sub 4-pt? Just curious.

Yes. I know the SCCA and BMW HPDE events in my area are pretty strict about those things. They also give you grief using a 5 or 6pt harness without a rollbar or cage, but they'll let you on the track.

Hunh. Go figure. I haven't heard anyone dinged for it out here, so I think I'm okay.

So, anyone out there run the Schroth belts? Anything I should be aware of in terms of mounting or usage? Thanks again,

A quote from one of the reviews:

Been using the Scroth mini belts for track days for 2 years now, very pleased. Only issue came up at BMWCCA track day event at Lime Rock this spring. the four point belts are not allowed. They required us to run with standard belts only. Potential submarine effect in case of crash was given as reason, I disagree with the reasosn as emergency tensioners built into the MINI you will not submarine under the belts in case of crash. I know this is case as I totalled my first MCS Works in a street crash and the tensioners fired and held us in perfect. May not be a scientific test this is why I disagree with the ban on the 4 point belts in the MINI by the BMWCCA at their track days.

I have some brand new black Simpson Cam-Lock 5 point belts. A pair actually.

I'll call you this week about them.

I've got some good 6 point harnesses if want to save some cash. Probably outdated but you can have one for 75 shipped.

Thanks,
Fritz
