I don't have any knowledge on hitches for FC's, but here's info on my rig. The trailer is available from Harbor Freight. I then added a lockable truck bed toolbox and built the tire rack.

U-Haul makes custom hitches for all cars. If they don't have an FC hitch in the database, they'll either find one or ask you to bring yours and take measurements. Lead time is usually 7-10 business days. I got mine in 4 ... works great.

The Harbor Freight tire trailer works great as well. You can custom design it any which way .... set of tires and toolbox, two sets of tires. I think the Southernsport trailers are a little bigger; so it's easier to rig it carry two set of tires (and possibly a toolbox).

 

I bought my hitch from an Ebay auction. It's a Draw-Tite model that's no longer available. There ARE hitches for FCs available online if you google it, you'll find one. I found the UHaul.com guys to be VERY uncooperative so I looked on Ebay and whadyaknow?

I'm wondering if there's any advantage to having the tires in the front Vs. the rear of the trailer. I was crusing the net yesterday and found examples of both configurations. I'm not interested in stacking them on two poles though.

I actually went through a local U-Haul and found them to be very accommodating. You get much better service when you talk face-to-face.

As far as the configuration, it's better to have the tires on the front (closer to your bumper) because of the tongue weight. It will keep the trailer more stable over road undulations. My friend's tire trailer has them on the rear and it tends to bounce a lot more. I have the two pole configuration, and I don't think it's that ugly.

the damn hitch doesn't really fit... I can tell it's been made for the FC but it's going to need a little massaging to get it to lign up

ROOF RACK?

 

hmmmmm...couldn't interfere with the roof opening though, I don't really fit in the car with my helmet on...

 

Here's my trailer. I think it is the Harbor Freight frame with a custom plywood box on it. I bought it used for $200. It fits my EZ-Up canopy (sticks out the front throgh a hole I cut), four 245/45-16 wheels across the inside in one row OR four 285/30-18 with three in a row and one separate, heavy jack, a few tool boxes, spare trailer wheel + tire, two jack stands, box or two of fluids and supplies and two folding chairs. It is kind of amazing that all that stuff fits in there, but it does.



I got the hitch on my FD from U-Haul for $275 installed incuding wiring. They chipped an interior plastic piece doing the wiring, but reimbursed me for the replacement ($130) without hassle.
